The day I take financial advice from Jay Jay will be a pretty cool day in Hades.

Has he? What point has he got? He's right that you need to invest. No problem there.

But seeing as Eddie has already invested 100M into the club, and is continuing to put considerable amounts into the club, where is the rest of the "investment" meant to come from????????

Exactly, you can't invest what you haven't got. I'm sure if the club could've built on the success we were having, they would have done. It's not like relegation is benefitting them.

You answered your own question.

Investing money in good quality players is right. Wasting it on ineffective dross (Pratley) or players who sit warming the bench (Sordell, Tuncay) isn't.

I don't really GET the idea that because we have now been relegated it therefore makes his time at the club a waste of time..

in what way?? he enjoyed it - he was well paid - we enjoyed it... why is it now a waste of time??

also - I don't think anyone was stopping JJ buying up the club and investing his wonga in it - were they? but he chose not to. how can he then slag Eddie for not slapping more of his wedge on the table???

The whole BSA thing and getting the big name older players in was of it's time, it started as a gamble that paid off...but to move to that next level where the big name players we signed had not 2 years left but 10 years left meant we were competing against all the big clubs and it wasnt sustainable. As Bish says, it was fun, it was of its time, and the fact that it will always hold a big special place in the hearts of all fans means it wasnt wasted, it was just an era like all clubs go through.

Spot on. Good while it lasted, but it was never going to be a reliable long-term solution. Not to mention for every Okocha, Djorkaeff and Campo we had a Jardel, Ba, Konstantinidis.

Oscar Perez and Dwight Pezarosi know they'd have been able to make a difference if only the club had stuck with them. Bet they're laughing at our problems.

A club the size of ours will always struggle to keep up with the elite. Bolton isn't a huge town, there are lots of football teams surrounding Bolton, especially Man United and now City, and that will always limit our growth. It's not as simple as throwing money at it and being successful. We don't have the fanbase in England or anywhere else around the world to make spending huge amounts viable. How can we compete for the international market when clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Man City, PSG, Malaga and many others, are all trying to get attract those same fans?

Unless someone with more money than sense buys us, we're never going to maintain the sort of league positions that Okocha helped us get.
