Keith Hill's Barnsley team are smashing Birmingham 5-0 right now. He would be my choice.

And a Bolton lad too. He worked wonders with Rochdale, got them promoted and in the top 10 of League 1 before joining Barnsley.

Personally speaking I would rather we took a chance with an upcoming manager rather than an average experienced one. Preferably a Lambert or Rodgers rather than a Clough or Darren Ferguson.

It doesn't.

The problem is, most clubs are incapable of attracting a quality manager and I include us in that. We can't hire a proven manager, so whoever we get, it's a gamble.

Coyle has been a failure in most peoples eyes yet he was chosen in the same way Allardyce was. Some might want experience but Megson had experience and was a failure. Sammy Lee was a failure for us by look at West Brom and you can see that working.

The point is, there is no sure way we can get a good replacement. Every possible candidate holds a risk and, with the case of a young assistant manager like Round, the higher the risk may well be the bigger the potential reward.

I love the optimism! Even though Coyle is totally unconvincing I still would love to see him succeed. I'm not sure a win at wednesday and a dodgy win v watford means the sky is suddenly blue. Warnock and Spearing should help as will the return of Holden hopefully and maybe ,just maybe he has stumbled onto a formation that could work so long as he doesnt decide to change it. Certainly with a solid formation the squad should be good enough. It'll take at least ten games of consistency with evidence of motivated players playing a system that works before I start to believe in OC again. Even then i will be pleasantly amazed if he is able to get the team up and keep it up. Live in hope rather than expectation
