Cometh the hour. Cometh the Holden
According to the Oracle in the People today Holden is back in Bolton in the next couple of days to start his 'pre-season' training. Stu himself has said he is looking to come back for the start of November
Pfffft.
Re: Cometh the hour. Cometh the Holden
No chance
In November he'll be no more fit than the one legged Lee who trotted out back end of last season
January, at best

His bein Alan Nixon? Is he present at training now?
To be fair our medical department do seen to take a 'it'll be reet' approach to comebacks. Maybe we will see him in November.
Come back the same please Stu.

I bet no-one is praying harder for his return than OC, given that a successful comeback is pretty much the only chance of papering over the cracks in the current regime.officer_dibble wrote:His bein Alan Nixon? Is he present at training now?

There will be a LOT of pressure on Stu, more so than the return of CYL even. He seems to have the mental strength to cope, just hope his body does too.

Is he going to make a blind bit of difference to our side? Am I the only one that thinks that having him back won't really change anything? Bolton fans talk as if we're getting Lionel Messi out there.
Yes he's a good player don't get me wrong, but the big problem lies in defence rather than in midfield and attack. Yes we've got Keith Andrews in that position at the moment who is awful, but we were like this when Lee came back and he's been benched. I can see the same thing happening with Holden.

Lee was benched because he only came back from international duty on Thursday and we have, as of tomorrow, two away games in six days. A fit Holden will walk right into the side, but it might be a while before that happens. If the midfiled are operating properly it will take some work off the defence.Gail Platz wrote:Is he going to make a blind bit of difference to our side? Wish I could share your optimism TD, I just can't see how one player could change our fortunes so much.
One other manager could though...

Re: Cometh the hour. Cometh the Holden
What Holden does very well is knit together defense and attack, also his enthusiasm tends to get the crowd onside and picks up other players. As such he would make quite a difference if he is able to play at anything like his previous level. He isnt Lionel Messi and that is the whole point. He does the simple things well and makes himself available. As a result he can make a team tick.Gail Platz wrote:Wish I could share your optimism TD, I just can't see how one player could change our fortunes so much.

Re: Cometh the hour. Cometh the Holden
Holden looks for the ball, actually wants it and finds space to recieve it. Quick pass and move man and can get defences out of lumber and attacks moving. That's his function and what a midfielder is all about. The sooner we see him the better. That said, when he's good and ready.

Holden will boost the whole club.
I am actually looking forward to Wheater coming back into the team aswell. Just hope we do enough so they can make an impact when they return.
Who'd have thought I'd would have said that!

Wheater is a big miss, another who's attitude must have a big impact on those around him. Cant say his standins inspire a lot of confidence.DJBlu wrote:Holden will boost the whole club.

That was Holden, when he got injured we went down hill sharply.
