Stephen Warnock
Done and dusted. Training at Euxton today.
Good move, that. Decent cover at full-back and midfield. To be honest, he's good enough to walk into either role at the moment.. Pleased with it.
Welcome aboard

Lets hope he doesn't sit on the bench for the next 4 months!

Personally I thought Marcos was doing well enough to be the left back.... I mean the only bad thing I can remember was the penalty which wasn't a pen....

Looks a bit cold up there.....
Re: Stephen Warnock
yeah good one. now get ricketts in at right back or centre back and we have a reasonable looking back four.

I'd be more inclined to play him in midfield at the moment..

In Nixon's mirror article he claimed Warnock was coming in to play midfield?James B wrote:yeah good one. now get ricketts in at right back or centre back and we have a reasonable looking back four.
I think he's a decent player.

Re: Stephen Warnock
Great signing. Rervers fans here rate him very highly. Get Ricketts in at RB now and we might be in some sort of shape. Board letting OC bring another player in looks like they won't be getting rid anytime soon, so that's BWFCI's weekend gone for a shit.

Re: Stephen Warnock
Probably won't affect him. With Spearing not full fit Warnock's almost a cert for midfield. Looks like a good aquisition.Tals-biggest-fan wrote:Personally I thought Marcos was doing well enough to be the left back.... I mean the only bad thing I can remember was the penalty which wasn't a pen....

But usually on these three month deals, clubs can send players back.
So its probably not seen as too big risk either way.
I'm fully resigned anyhow to him being here in 5 years time as we surf the lower ecehlons of the championship and league one (Or worse)

On the plus side that gives me plenty of scope to keep posting about how fecking useless he is.

Wonder if the deal has been done quick enough for him to feature tomorrow??
Probably lacking a decent chuck of match fitness mind....guess he'll fit right in!!

Warnock? Or Ricketts, mentioned in the post prior to yours?boltonboris wrote:I'd be more inclined to play him in midfield at the moment..
As for this being indicative of Coyle's safety in the job - nah, not really - it's only a loanee* and hardly likely to deter an incoming manager. Warnock's yet another Premier League player in the squad. I wish him well.

Re: Stephen Warnock
Hm. Not necessarily. A loan signing for 3 months is relatively low-risk, and Warnock's a good player, very good at this level. It's a player that I'd like to hope even a new manager would have been after.Bruce Rioja wrote:Great signing. Rervers fans here rate him very highly. And also, FWIW, I think Ricketts is a better left back than right back.

He can play in a number of different positions: 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th...Coyle said on the official site rather than wrote:Stephen is a player that I have always liked and one that can play in a number of positions, which is very important in the Championship. We tried to get him to the club before the summer transfer deadline but it never came to fruition, so I’m delighted that we have now been able to bring him in.
He has a terrific pedigree and has moved for large sums of money in his career, so we know his quality. He has the right character and it’s important that we bring those attributes into the group. He ticks all the boxes and when I spoke to him you could tell how keen he was to come here.
I have to say there was a lot of competition for his signature. We beat off a host of clubs in the Championship, so we are delighted to get him in.

Let's hope he gives us a new-face bounce. We've even got an initiation rite: as a defensive midfielder, he can take part in the sacrificial substitution that gives away points to The God Of 442.
