Rioch's sacking at Arsenal was not due to lack of results - it was something else entirely.
Might be wrong though.

A case of when, not if according to Iles on Twitter. One of the journos from That London has tweeted saying DF won't be taking charge of the Palace game tonight.

Times seems to think it's a foregone conclusion as well. Quoting long term contract at ~£500,000p.a. with substantial bonus to return to Premiership at first attempt.

Thanks to the Palace fans who have come on and offered their opinion without baiting, grating or hating. Most Palace fans I've met seem level-headed, and our clubs are indeed roughly the same 'size', whatever that means: long-gone glory days, followed in recent decades by trying to stay in the top flight. Good luck to them.
Not convinced about Freedman - either that it will happen or that it should - but I'm glad we're assessing options. And, as the avatar says: Anyone But Souness.

Ah that explains it. Trouble being he was the first to mention Freedman as a target in his article that said we were deciding between Freedman, Souness and McCarthy.Lord Kangana wrote:Dougie Freedman/David Lee's Hair wrote:What's Nixon's view?Graeme Souness/Mick McCarthy/OGS/That Appletonfella will definitely/not definitely/might be/proably is/n't/look at the hints I'm dropping aren't I ITK/some other bollox
On Sunday in the People he wrote that Freedman was our number 1 target. Appears to be 100% correct.
On Monday morning in the Mirror he said Freedman wanted to speak to us and had shocked Palace by telling them as much. Again appears 100% correct.
So you may not like him, but he appears to be getting his facts right, one way or another.

He mentioned every other fooker in football too. Its pretty easy to be 100% correct, when you write about 100% of everything, 100% of the time.
ANyway, one of the real upsides to binning Coyle off is that we might hear less of his crap. Two know-nowts with one sacking, if you like.

But thats bollocks isn't it? He said initially we ideally wanted a "young manager". Was he not right?Lord Kangana wrote:He mentioned every other fooker in football too. Its pretty easy to be 100% correct, when you write about 100% of everything, 100% of the time.

He then said that three candidates had been drawn up as "different" options for Eddie Davies to pick from.
He then wrote who the chosen one was and then revealed before anyone else, that said candidate wanted to speak to us.
You say he mentioned "everyone" well, perhaps there was a long list of candidates we considered 2 weeks ago. He identified our target on Sunday in the People. We had approached Palace on Saturday evening only.
As for your second bit, given he's pally with Freedman, if he does become our new manager you may well not get your wish. As I said earlier, perhaps Nixon is our new Mark Curtis? Recommending managers from his Scottish mafia mob?

Re: Now he's gone, who's next?
I am sure that you have guessed that I am a Palace fan. If Dougie Freedman joins you (as it seems almost certain he will) then I say good luck to him and to you. Is it a good move? Let's hope so, but I am not sure.
Dougie is a legend here in South London and we wish him well but he only has a year of managerial experience and we were awful the second half of last season and the beginning of this one. After 3 games I was telling people to bet on us to go down! Hopefully he has turned a corner now. Shame we won't benefit from it if he has. But manage your expectations, give him time and good luck for the rest of the season.
