Campo open letter to BWFC fans 2012

Post by The Berlin Bear » Mon Oct 22, 2012 10:25 pm

I would love to see him back at the club. Not as a manager but certainly as a training coach.

I know he states it would not be as a coach but I have a feeling he has that as a long term aim.

As a coach?

What. The. Feck.

Have you all gone mad?

Campo was/is ace, but he is cracked. Maybe a job scouting, but in charge of stuff?!

Is that genuine? If so, well, we could do with someone to fill that "campo" role in front of the back four....

He maybe cracked but that doesn't mean its a bad idea. I'm sure a lot of players in the academy and even first team could learn a lot from a player like him. He doesn't necessarily have to be 'in charge' of training.

As I have stated in another thread about the Coyle/Freedman scenario.....this is probably an idea from the heart rather than the head.

Its Guillem Balague's website so I'm pretty sure it is. He's a very well respected Spanish football writer and is the same source as the one for his letter to BWFC fans in 2008.

I'd be very surprised if it wasn't genuine. Campo and Ballague go back aways.

Ivan Campo. Bullet header. In front of the Darwen End.

Total BWFC legend. When i was hitching through Spain for charity a couple of years ago, people would ask me where I was from. When I replied "Bolton" they would reply " aahhh Ivan Campo" . Got me many lifts, and for that Ivan i am totally grateful.

Followed by TWO Jussi penalty saves! Happy days! :pissed:

The Wanderers are coming up the hill boys,

Well ..... Lofty's getting a bit old hat. We could have him as Mascot !!

If it's a real letter from the man then bless him. But the letter should be written to Gartside & Eddie D.

... & the BEN would find a return ticket to Bilbao, for a reporter money very well spent.

And yes, I think it would be a real boon to see Ivan around as, at the very least, a match day ambassador or something. Surely it can't hurt, being able to point to current/future players and say "look at the calibre of our old boys". I see no hobsticles.

"I would not be returning as a player, or even a manager or a coach."

He's aiming the chairman spot. :D

Sending me crazy in the stands at the 'Bok! Still my favourite live football (ie. at the ground) moment...

I'd take Ivan back to Bolton in a heartbeat, he clearly wants to help and his experience and skill would be great for coaching right the way through the club, from the youth teams up to the 1st team squad...
