So our wage bill from June 2011-June 2012 was effectively the same as our wage bill in the previous period.

Re: Financial Results
Unless I'm missing something our wage bill went up under Owen Coyle from 46M in the financial year he took over to 56M the year after. And only came down last season by less than 1M.
I can accept he reduced the wage bill this season, but he also lost 25M quids worth of income.
So is the realitythat he was running a more expensive squad in the premiership than the previous bloke?

Re: Financial Results
So basically Coyle didn't particularly do anything about the financial situation apart from make it worse ?

I sometimes wonder whether you are genuinely dim, or whether you're just determined to blame the previous manager for everything and anything.

Now we know you were talking utter bollocks. His net spend was just over £2.5M when we were in the Premier League. He also reduced the wage bill by half during that time.
Coyles premiership wage bill last season was £10M higher than when he took over.
Your previous arguments have been exposed as nonsense.
Re: Financial Results
A strategic policy of change was undertaken to ready the football club for the 2012/13 season whether it was in the Barclays Premier League or the npower Championship. Several players left the squad reducing the wage bill. Coyle signed players on reduced terms to replace the ones whose contracts were about to expire. So he didn't make the financial situation worse, in fact he laid the groundwork to ensure that we weren't saddled with an unsustainable wage bill regardless of what division we were in.
Re: Financial Results
I don't reckon it was really Coyle's bag to make ANY significant financial decisions. so - UP or DOWN - not really down to Coyle, is it?? (unless Eddie gave him a book full of pre-signed cheques and he did all his own negotiating...)
Re: Financial Results
That's why i included the quote from Phil Gartside. There are a few on here who still think the wage bill was cut more by accident than design.

Ahh but you're argument from the quote I used was that it wasn't Coyles fault we went down because the wage bill was already halved whilst we were a premiership side.BL3 wrote:A strategic policy of change was undertaken to ready the football club for the 2012/13 season whether it was in the Barclays Premier League or the npower Championship. That has been shown to not be the case. In fact the wage bill last season was higher by 10M than the one he inherited. You were arguing that relegation was caused by Coyle having to reduce the wage bill.
But that's not the case.
The fact it has now been reduced post relegation is irrelevant to the argument you were using previously.
It's now that our wage budget as a premiership side cannot be used as the excuse for last seasons relegation, as you were trying to suggest previously.
Re: Financial Results
Frightening figures. We're currently losing £60,000 every single day. Can't imagine that this season is going to be much better as any reduction in the wage bill will be offset by the reduction in turnover. We're in the bizzare situation that we can't afford to compete in the premiership but can't afford not to be there.
Who's that coming up the hill boys,
The Wanderers are coming up the hill boys,
They all laugh at us, they all mock at us,
They all say our days are numbered,
Born to be a Wanderer, victorious are we....

how do you tie these financial decisions to Coyle, precisely?BWFC_Insane wrote:In a nutshell.....Relentless09 wrote:So basically Coyle didn't particularly do anything about the financial situation apart from make it worse ?

Name me one player who Coyle signed who was on within £10k/pw of what Elmander was on.
