Next Season's Opponents
Assuming, pessimistically, that we don’t make the play-offs and get promoted, and so we face another year of Championship football, who do you want to come down/go up?
Personally, I’d love to see Newcastle nestling mid-table in the Championship, but them getting relegated this season is at best an outside possibility, so I think I can only dream on about that one. Of the more realistic droppers I’d perm Wigan/Villa/QPR – Wiggins, because they’re Wigan obviously, QPR just for the twitch’s sake, and Villa because I can see them imploding with the shock (they’ve been on a collision course with disaster ever since O’Neill walked out on them) and it would be fun playing against them in that state.
Of the up comers, Doncaster and Sheffield United would mean a huge set of six away games I could easily get to even mid-week (Forest, Derby, Wednesday and Barnsley if they all stay up, alongside Doncaster and Sheffield United all well within 30 miles of me).
For the same reason, I’d quite like Notts County to get promotion too, but to be honest they’re in a very similar position to us and the play-offs are probably beyond them. In which case I’d vote (if votes count) for Yeovil – we’ve never met in the League ever, and I’ve never been to their ground so it’d be another ticked off the list.

Re: Next Season's Opponents
Personally assuming it is 3 from the bottem 4 I would like to see Villa survive and the other 3 (QPR, Reading and Wigan) go. Wigan because they are already starting to think they are a bigger club then Bolton, Reading for reasons I have mentioned 100s of times and QPR just because of the way there fans ran on the pitch last season. I also think these 3 will be bound to finish below us next year. In the championship presuming the top 2 places will be filled by 2 teams out of the current top four I would go for Cardiiff and Palace because I think they will be tougher competition next season then Watford or Hull who rarely seem to have 2 good seasons on the bounce. As for the play offs (assuming it is anyone from the current top 10 that is in contention) Ithink we could very well win the play offs but going with your scenario that we won"t then I would pick Brighton as it would be funny seeing then suffer big time next season and beat Derby"s lowest points tally. As for relegation from the championship I would like to see the last of Wolves because they are Wolves, Wednesday because there is a really cocky Wednesday fan at my school and Pboro because they are sh*t (this is assuming that it is anyone from 14th down and keeping that 6 points marker in mind). Finally for League 1 assuming the top 2 is from any of the current top 6I would go for Brenford as it is local and Doncaster because that club has gone through some very difficult times in the past few years. Assuming any of the current top 8 could win the play offs I would like to see Bournmouth win it as they are local, it is easy to get to from Reading and A bloke who lives down the road from us who treated myself and my sister exceptionally well in the months following my mums death supports them.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Assuming, pessimistically, that we don’t make the play-offs and get promoted, and so we face another year of Championship football, who do you want to come down/go up?

I genrally worked on the idea that if at this stage in the season if you are more than 6 points from something then you cannot acheive it so I cannot see Leicster for example in contetion for the automatic promotion places because they are 8 points of second. If I had no limitations in my predictions then they would turn out mental and I would get ridiculed for them so will stick to sensible possibilities.

QPR, Wigan and Stoke down.
Bury, Preston and someone else up (those are the only teams I know from the league below)

Or West Brom to come down so we're a bigger club than them again and can buy Dawson.
Re: Next Season's Opponents
Some of those are not even mathmatically possible.adamworthy2002 wrote:QPR, Wigan and Stoke down.

You never know, all 21 other teams could go into administration within a week or something!bwfcdan94 wrote:Some of those are not even mathmatically possible.adamworthy2002 wrote:QPR, Wigan and Stoke down.

Ok but I mean even if Bury win every game they have left this season they still cannot get in the play offsadamworthy2002 wrote:You never know, all 21 other teams could go into administration within a week or something!bwfcdan94 wrote:Some of those are not even mathmatically possible.adamworthy2002 wrote:QPR, Wigan and Stoke down.

Re: Next Season's Opponents
F*ck Bury. A derby, yes, but let's not start wishing well to those who despise us.
Speaking of which, I'd dearly love Wiggin down, and I find myself watching MotD actively wanting QPR to lose - weird, as I know a few of their fans (all decent), have always quite liked the club and don't hold last season against them. Let's call it The Redknapp Effect - not the more notable one, where almost every team he manages finds itself in financial f*cktastrophe after he leaves. All coincidence of course.
As for the third relegation spot, I'd love to see Stoke plummet but they're nine points clear. I started the season disliking Reading but they've grown on me. Mind you, wouldn't want Villa to be punished for having faith in youth (and I like Lambert). Also struggling to dislike Southampton, despite shitty treatment of Adkins. So I dunno, but at least I have two strong preferences.
League One: Happy with Donny and Sheff U going up automatically, but wouldn't want Swindon up as they've just been spending their way through the divisions and Tranmere, like Bury, can f*ck right off. Slight soft spots for the overachieving Yeovil and Bournemouth (the Cherries have only ever had three second-tier years, the last in 1990, while the Glovers have never made it) - but selfishly I'd like to see the promotion of Brentford, who've only had one second-tier season in half a century and are, more importantly, only six miles from our house...

Re: Next Season's Opponents
As many london clubs down from the prem and up from league 1, and as few going the other way, as possible, please.
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

We should be looking at who might be coming up from League Two. We're only 15 points clear of relegation.

Not so sure about us, but have a feeling you might be getting relegated very shortly.BS3 wrote:We should be looking at who might be coming up from League Two. We're only 15 points clear of relegation.
