Davo - Sheff Wednesday
See ya big man. The right move for all involved, but such a gutting moment.

Really? Seems an odd one from a boyhood blades fan.

Sheffield Wednesday: Owls eye Kevin Davies loan
SHEFFIELD Wednesday have been strongly linked with Bolton striker Kevin Davies.
The Owls are understood to have made an inquiry about a loan deal for the 35-year-old who will be out of contract this summer.
Davies played under Owls manager Dave Jones at Southampton.
Bolton sources suggest that Wednesday are not the only Championship club interested but that the player could be tempted by a move to his hometown club - it is well known that he grew up as a Sheffield United fan.
It is believed that Bolton want him to stay as they challenge for a place in the play-offs.

Someone I know, who knows someone else who knows someone else reckons he's up for it.

Which is fair enough. I'm not surprised. But I can't see Bolton loaning him out now.boltonboris wrote:Someone I know, who knows someone else who knows someone else reckons he's up for it.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Davo - Sheff Wednesday
Anyhow, on good authority, KD has wanted out for a while now this season.
I think it's because he realises he's going to get less and less football here.
Not in a trouble making way. He wants to play for a few more seasons apparently, and clearly not playing here will not help him do that.

To be fair he's not looked a happy bunny here for quite a while now, really.

so - whence your surprise that we would loan him out? do you think dougie wants players who don't want to be here?

I will be surprised if we loan him out at this stage, given where we're at.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Anyhow, on good authority, KD has wanted out for a while now this season.

I would be more surprised if he was still here next season.
I think it's natural for someone of his age to want to play, and I think there is a difference in "being desperate to leave" and being destructive as a character, and not really wanting to leave, but feeling that if you want to prolong your playing career you have to.
Re: Davo - Sheff Wednesday
i understand that - but i don't get the impression from the kind of stuff dougie usually says that he wants players who don't want to be here for his playoff push... given that even YOU know that KD doesn't want to be here - then you'd have to expect that Dougie knows.. so if KD really doesn't want to be here - it wouldn't be in least bit surprising if he opted to loan him out and bring in a younger hungrier loanee (as he keeps saying he wants to do)BWFC_Insane wrote:I will be surprised if we loan him out at this stage, given where we're at.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Anyhow, on good authority, KD has wanted out for a while now this season.

Re: Davo - Sheff Wednesday
It's not that black and white, though, and I suspect you know it as you appear to be on a particularly picky wind-up mission today, Bish...
Dougie went on record a couple of months ago saying that Alonso had told him, presumably while refusing a contract, that he would "give everything while he's here" (or words to that effect). Freedman doesn't appear to mind, Alonso has blossomed. Davies can hardly be accused of lacking effort, and Freedman has happily picked him in every matchday squad this year, but Freedman might recognise that the player could get more playing time elsewhere - and if it suits the club, let him go.

Re: Davo - Sheff Wednesday
Probably along the lines of 'I want to stay and play but if you aren't going to pick me let me go,' which would be reasonable and in character I imagine.

I don't want him to go.
We've let a lot of big names just fck off in the last few years without so much as even a wave goodbye to the fans. Jay Jay, Campo, Stelios, Speed, Gardner and Jussi. Then there's the biggest of them all: Kevin Nolan.
He's the last of our galácticos and it's not right if he just buggers off on loan never to be seen again. The least he deserves is a decent send off at the end of the season. Both him and the club owe us that.
