I love watching Napoli play, especially at home because of the incredible atmosphere. It's quite depressing to think we had such an excellent player on our books a few years ago though.

Blerim playing for us would have been like putting a tiara on a cart horse (the way Megson had us playing).

I have never forgiven Megson for letting him go without giving him a chance.

No point looking back. What happened has happened. Good to see the lad is doing well though, after his injury problems.

Player in 'goes somewhere else and does better' shocker.

There's a chance Meggo was right and he was bobbins, before taking a few years to improve in Italy.

Not as good as Andranik, surely?

He played in the cup game against Sheffield United, and was shocking.

Lad probably needed to move on and establish himself somewhere, given the injury he'd had before joining us. Suspect a European league suits him more than the premiership or championship would anyway.

I remember the game against Wigan and he was portrayed as some kind of god :D

After that game, Allardyce was criticised every time he didn't pick him ahead of Nolan.....

Or be nurtured, looked after and given a chance. Who knows that if we had a decent manager at that time he could have been great for us.

I don't think there was ever a time when he was with us, that he fit enough to play, so I think you're bing quite harsh there.. Allardyce chose not to play him when he got back from the ligament injury, but he seems to have been absolved from blame.

Besides.. Didn't we get surprisingly good money for him?

I don't doubt he was never fit while being with us but I think you are being very, very harsh to apportion any blame on Allardyce. Sam may have signed him on a pre-contract agreement at the start of 2007 but he had left before Blerim actually joined up in the Summer of 2007.

It was Megsons decision to sell/release him before giving a proper chance.

Ah.. Thought Sam left in '08. Yeah, that is a tad harsh!

I honestly can't tell if people are being serious in this thread.

Personally I've never forgiven Megson for not stumping up the cash to buy Ariza Makukula. 21 goals in 29 games for Kayserispor the season after he left here. Never given a chance...

Plus Rodrigo just scored against Newcastle for Benfica. A bit pointless going back over these things though. He had a few chances for us and didn't do much. The way it goes sometimes.

We did stick him on the wing though...

And he was never actually our player - just a loanee.

OK OK no comparison then. I'll further undermine my own ill-conceived argument by remembering that we actually tried to keep him but he got a better offer.
