Well it was quite obvious, to me at least, that he didn't name anybody. For you to leap in does quite suffice to intimate a guilty conscience. Just saying... perhaps maybe you could step back and weigh up shit before leaping in on every occasion. Maybe.thebish wrote:bobo the clown wrote: Guilty conscience Vicar. Shall we have a vote ?
nahh - I'd sugest a couple of examples of what you're on about would suffice!

In context it was about what I am more likely to believe.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Except not trusting someone can simply mean you haven't got enough evidence to put your trust in them yet.thebish wrote:y'see - when you specialise in telling us opposites - then whatever happens you can later claim you said it ages ago...BWFC_Insane wrote:

in the space of less than a day you have clearly stated:
1. you don't trust Birch - he's here on a secret hidden dodgy agenda
2. you don't mistrust Birch
so - whatever happens - he turns out to have been trustworthy or not/on a secret hidden agenda or not - you can say "TOLD YOU SO!"
It does not mean you have reason to mistrust.
I don't trust a random stranger who approaches me on the street. Neither do I mistrust him.
There is a distinction there.
in the situation of not knowing someone well enough I suspect I might say something like... errrrr... "I don't really know the guy well enough" if I wanted to get across the idea that it was simply lack of information... I probably wouldn't try to get that across by saying "I don't trust him" - especially after claiming that summat dodgy was going on - cos - well - that actually sounds like you mean you don't trust him - especially if you also claim he has a hidden secret agenda...
I have no reason to doubt Iles and Nixon and they have covered the club for a long time. Birch has been here a week. I don't think he has a secret agenda per se, but what has been going on is odd. And he is employed by Eddie and is primarily working for him, not necessarily, the best interests of the club and its fans.
I'm not suggesting I think he is up to anything untoward. Just that a PR statement from him does not for me personally necessarily resemble the entire truth on the situation.
Re: The Debt.
fair enough. I think we have heard more from Birch on our situation in a short time than we have from others over a long time - so I think that's positive. I see no obvious reason to suggest summat dodgy is going on.
he seems to me to be a good person to be employed on our side of the fence - he has expertise and I suspect we are safer in his hands than (say) old Ma Warburton or whoever else might have stepped into Garty's negotiating shoes in his absence...

Re: The Debt.
Most of the stuff you and some other contributors have put out is pretty sensible and, especially in Worthy's case, clearly based on an informed appreciation of financial facts. I would never discourage anyone from being prudently sceptical because business owners will always want to present a picture that best suits their interest but some of the speculative and uninformed drivel is on a different level entirely.BWFC_Insane wrote:In context it was about what I am more likely to believe.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Except not trusting someone can simply mean you haven't got enough evidence to put your trust in them yet.thebish wrote:y'see - when you specialise in telling us opposites - then whatever happens you can later claim you said it ages ago...BWFC_Insane wrote:

whether or not you trust the club, the official statement about Birch's appointment said:BWFC_Insane wrote: I have no reason to doubt Iles and Nixon and they have covered the club for a long time. what are you getting at when you claim "he is employed by Eddie and is primarily working for him, not necessarily, the best interests of the club and its fans." have you any evidence for that? If (as you say) Birch is employed by Eddie - then why would the club say that Eddie is fully supportive of the appointment? I'm confused! The board of Bolton Wanderers Football Club has today, Tuesday 17 November, announced the appointment of Trevor Birch to act on behalf of the club and owner with immediate effect. The role will see Trevor providing assistance to the board and owner which will include managing negotiations with the various parties who have expressed an interest in purchasing the club. Brett Warburton, Vice Chairman, said: “Trevor is a football man who has great experience in dealing with clubs in difficult financial situations. We welcome his support in assisting us through this difficult period. “Our current owner Eddie Davies is fully supportive of the appointment and will work closely with Trevor. “
also - note - 17th November is more than one week ago!

Iles says administration early next week if nothing sorted.ChrisC wrote:Administration on Friday if nothing is sorted according to Nixon.. Hmm..
Also says Holdsworth was in the ground and hotel today, negotiating.
Sounds like things are coming to a head one way or the other.

Re: The Debt.
Again they are both basically saying the same thing. Iles said earlier that he didn't think admin was likely. Now he's changed to saying early next week. Ok a few days different. But general agreement on the story now....thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Iles says administration early next week if nothing sorted.ChrisC wrote:Administration on Friday if nothing is sorted according to Nixon.. Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: The Debt.
I'd expect whoever is running Eddies affairs to stave off the taxman temporally, admin, certain relegation and a sale of any assets would slash the asking price by one hell of a lot.

Nothing .... other than him being completely borasic, would make that sensible. Nothing.Hoboh wrote:I'd expect whoever is running Eddies affairs to stave off the taxman temporally, admin, certain relegation and a sale of any assets would slash the asking price by one hell of a lot.
However hardball he's playing not paying £300,000 and having your assets seized and remaining value reduced would be madness.

Re: The Debt.
I'm also wondering whether its just coincidence that ED finally turned the taps off at pretty much the exact same time. It's not as though there's been any sudden change in our circumstances.plymouth wanderer wrote:Riviman wrote:I think you are totally wrong here.plymouth wanderer wrote:Nice to see Garty has gone when the going got tough!

Is it because no one will be asking PG any awkward questions in the near future regarding what's been going on behind the scenes? Or does ED need to tie up some "loose ends" before PG's condition deteriorates any further? Or maybe ED has just figured BWFC isn't worth a level of stress which may lead to him becoming ill? (tried to keep my idle speculation balanced there)
