What made it better was the emphatic "literally crease to exist". :D

Anyway: Window gone, no major player losses. That feels like it should be A Good Thing, although the financial uncertainty (worsened by getting drip-fed half-heard tit-bits like the one that caused your "lies" post) means I'm still slightly worried we'll be hearing "Oh dear, we needed to sell someone to survive" within a month.

So, the countdown begins to Mon 22 Feb. I've just realised that on that day I've also got a site to launch and an album coming out. Oh good...)

Please tell me you've called it 48 hours?

Oh goody, we're on album naming. I offer...

"Another 48 hours (until our fate is decided)"

Nobody knows which car parks we're talking about. Best anyone has said is Iles describing it as the main car parks next to Middlebrook. Which I assume means the two car parks nearest the Middlebrook shopping area.

Iles knows how much the car park sold for - but not which car park was sold?

To be fair, I've occasionally bought stuff in the supermarket and not really known what it was :)

Lennon's been thinking about money. per BN
Obviously a lot depends on the level of football the club is playing at next season. If we do go down then obviously the financial side changes.

I’d like to see contracts incentivised more rather than just dish out big basic wages. If we stay in the Championship – which is obviously the aim – then it’ll be about maintaining the position in the league. I wouldn’t say we need a salary cap but we do need a level to where it doesn’t put us in financial jeopardy again.

For me, when I came down here I thought the wage bill was infinitely excessive and that hasn’t changed. It’s one of the reasons we’re in the position we find ourselves. We have to look at it and make sure we do things more prudently.

"I thought the wage bill was infinitely excessive and that hasn’t changed."
I don't know which affects me more: the idea that we were paying infinitely too much money (which surely therefore means he thinks we should be paying zero) or the admission that things haven't changed.

I mean, maybe he meant there are still payroll remnants he'd rather be shut of, or maybe he means he hasn't changed his opinion on the state of the payroll he inherited, but it's not great PR after a window in which our main transfer activities entailed getting rid of his mistakes and the bloke he picked in 1 matchday squad in 15 months.

I'm guessing it's the hangover. Though I doubt he's the only manager who's had to put up with others shite (we paid Shittu up, and as I recall a couple of Coyle's duds were subsidised on loan, I may be wrong) - here or indeed anywhere else.

I understand and accept the old adage "a footballer's career is short", but really and truly, they're having their cake and eating it with regard to the robustness, size and inflexibility of contracts at the moment. Especially given the financial whirlwind we and others have reaped. So in that sense, I agree with Lennon. Albeit the choice of superlative was a little silly.

Figured this would probably be better on here than on the Garty thread...But that few words from Eddie Davies on Garty doesn't make him sound like he's going gaga (as had been previously suggested). He sounded pretty compos mentis to me...
