Wanderers being Sued

Over the transfer of The Badger. As I recall, this story's been bubbling under for quite some time. But anyway;

Might be more interesting than the football season we've all but witnessed. Are we selling tickets?

Hopefully get it over out of the way. The guys been banging on about it for long enough.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Paul Scholes had the right idea, do the deals for himself.
All agents are leeches and most of the players too dim to realise they are being manipulated and ripped off.

Very true, these people give nothing to the game and take a hell of a lot out.
Players should be represented by their own players union in contract negotiations.
The ex Palace chairman (can't remember his name) said in some extracts from a book, how "football is like no other business and that after negotiating a contract from his client, expected the club to also pay him a fee". No wonder the games so expensive these days!
I think most chairman are scared on being put on some kind of agents blacklist, so don't want to rock the boat.

If they all sung from the same hymm sheet they could save their clubs a fortune, just proves majority of them are w*nkers.

I'm sure there are lots of very dodgy agents out there, but it's probably a bit harsh to call them all as leeches ripping off players.

Paul Scholes had more natural talent than David Beckham, yet one shunned the agents, and one very much didn't. Beckham's worth a hell of a lot more than Scholes!

Yes, but then no-one wants to see Paul Scholes modelling his big underpants. :D

It makes you think more of Scholes as a person though at least he wasn't creaming every last penny going and I defy anyone to say he's poor.

It might make you think more of him.

It seems to me David Beckham decided he wanted to make the most of the talent he had and exploit it to its potential financially. Good for him. It's his life.

It seems Paul Scholes decided he wanted to live a quiet life. He was getting paid enough he didn't need to worry, he decided he didn't want the hassle. Good for him. It's his life.

Do you think Beckham would be worth the money he is now if he'd had to rely on his own natural wits, rather than surrounding himself with agents and managers who could help him? I'm not sure they can be called 'leeches'.

Some of them are wankers, mind. But not all, and not on account of simply 'being an agent'.

Not even sure Beckham is a great example. I'm not sure whether he had a football agent makes a great deal of difference to his wealth, most of which is down to things outside of football.

Are you suggesting it's done sort of parallel career he'd have had anyway? How do you think he got those gigs? Did he ring up Police sunglasses himself and hammer out a deal?

Well no. He got his fame through football, and marrying. And I'm sure had a very good agent doing those deals for him.

But I'm not sure whether a football agent did those deals outside of football, and he certainly likely would have a different agent at some point. And my point is that he didn't make his fortune by having a good agent hawking round club to club.....or not most of it anyway.

Not an agent hawking him around club to club no, but an agent. What is it that makes someone specifically a 'football agent'. In Beckham's case his 'agent' was a company with numerous individuals working on it (think was Simon Fuller, good marrying indeed).

My point is Hoboh'd point that they're all leeches is bollocks. Some of them are. Some do a very good job for their clients.

I agree with your point in general.

I do think though they are a blight on football.

Football agents generally take money back out of the game.

I guess the difference with agents in other areas is that often they are paid directly by the people they are representing rather than necessarily the industry itself.
