Marvin Sordell - Future at BWFC

Post by Blease89 » Wed Apr 16, 2014 10:44 am

What's the verdict on Sordell? Living in London there are plenty of Charlton fans who are happy to provide some 'feedback'. General concensus is that he is pretty poor. Occasions where he's pretty much tackled his own player in the oppositons box come to mind for recent feedback.

Do we cut our losses? Am I right in thinking we spent £4m on him!!

I think he's got the talent but no balls or application, waste of space tbh.
One of those who will never quite make the grade, bit like most of the youth we have here.

Skied one over last night which would have been easier to score than miss, according to reports.

... which is an improvement on what he did for us, tbh, as he rarely got into position to miss them.

"Welcome" by the way.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Blease 89, if you're a Charlton fan, Marvelous Marvin is just waiting to errupt with a whole bunch of dazzling goals. Very talented and cheap at twice whatever tag is on him. A born warrior and leads from the front. We'd be demoralised to lose him..

If you're a Bolton fan, on the other hand, we have chariots available to help him move his goods and chattels permanently to his new Hut 29. All depends on how you look at it.

He is average, nothing more nothing less. Would expect him to be at a team near the bottom of the championship/ top, of league 1 and that is exactly where he is.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

Fortunately I'm a Bolton Fan.

Shame really what I saw of him when he first joined he looked quite useful.

I think you'll find it's a hard sell to the Charlton fans, they've offered to drive him back today...

An average championship player is more likely to be playing for a mid-table team than one at the bottom. I could see Marv playing for someone like Watford in 13th or the team in 14th.

I was referring to how good he was in terms of other professional; footballers, thus encompassing league 1, some league 2 players and a few conference players as well.

this was one signing that coyle could rightly be given a slap and sordell would probably like to give it.

At time of signing it was a bit of a who ?, but he'd scored some goals and was a regular in the u20/21s.

given that coyle then chose not to play him for the rest of that season, gave all the appearance of buy in haste, repent at leisure. who knows perhaps he was always one for the following season. Problem was it fecked up the lads head.

I actually thought like the lad did have an eye for goal, but given his fleeting appearances and all the crap that came out about homesick and twitter made it difficult to judge. Obviously his OKish pre-season was just a shop window and doesn't sound like he's ripping up trees at charlton, so the lads career sounds in danger.

Heres a poser for you - who would you rather have had - sordell or beckford ?;

Beckford, Beckford, Beckford and ... Beckford.

To think, Coyle bought Sordell as he'd spend all week trying to sign Zaha but couldn't quite rise the £5m to persuade Palace to let him go, so he signed Sordell from under the nose of Malky McKay at Cardiff who was as mad as hell about being gazumped. The actual signing took barely a couple of hours just as the door was slamming shut.

Of course he has some ability but not as much as he was said to have and he lost his way with us. Clearly an immature lad and it's interesting that he has been as poor with Charlton as he seemed last year with us.

Maybe Stuart Pearce can revive his career at Forest ???

wonder what would have happened if we'd got Zaha - would that diamond have turned out to be glass

If someone offered £1m, I'd rip their arms out of their sockets. I think Marv is comparable with Ariza Makakakakakakakkaakula, Ebi Smolarek and Daniel Braaten

Not arsed either way about him. Has potential. Not sure he'll ever quite want it enough.

There is more chance of Stuart Pearce reviving his career at Forest.

(than reviving Sordell's)

It's a good call Bobo. Pearce is a likeable but ultimately terrible manager, it might just work.

With Keith Andrews pulling the strings, marvellous Marvin will be banging them in for fun next season. Yhihf

Next season I'd prefer Keith Andrews over Trotter any day.
