Next Bolton Manager Poll
Thought it might be interesting to do a Poll of who we'd want from what we believe to be the front runners and riders

Here's the thing. I look at that list and I can't even commit to clicking a radio button, let alone hiring any of them.
Mind you, I might feel better informed if I'd sat interviewing them about the job...

I'm with DSB. Can't commit to clicking for any of them. I can say I don't want Wise, Clarke and Phelan from the options. I'm uneasy about MacKay and I'm concerned Lennon is just a gobshite with no experience of the sort of position we are in. Hughton and Mowbray I'm ok with, if a little short on excitement. I'll get behind whoever as long as it isn't Di Canio/Ince et al.

Di Canio would be quite funny, if not productive...at least if the football continued to be crap, there's be no end of amusement.

Interesting that the Telegraph's man in Manchester, Mark Ogden, thinks we're after Browny when tricky Nixon reckons we're only after the unemployed. Can't both be right.

Well, if we're going to play one up top then we may as well throw Johnny Dexter up for set pieces.Harry Genshaw wrote:Wow! That's a blast from the pastBruce Rioja wrote:Why's Viktor Boskovic's name not up there? Well?

Re: Next Bolton Manager Poll
Not following managers that closely, I'd be ok with Hughton, Lennon, Clarke or Phelan... they've all seemed ok in interviews and/or as pundits. Out of that four there are 2 or 3 who I identify as number two's, and 3 haven't had much/any experience of managing in the championship so it'll probably be risky whoever gets it.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Wise as is in Dennis fecking Wise?! Mowbray is off the bottom!

With Di Canio expressing interest I think Freedman's almost off the bottom.Prufrock wrote:Wise as is in Dennis fecking Wise?! Mowbray is off the bottom!
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Yep, I'd prefer Coyle back with Megson as fans' PR-liaison and Dougie as Director of Football.bobo the clown wrote:With Di Canio expressing interest I think Freedman's almost off the bottom.Prufrock wrote:Wise as is in Dennis fecking Wise?! Mowbray is off the bottom!

Re: Next Bolton Manager Poll
The one who excites me the most is probably Lennon. There's an element of doubt around his ability because the SPL is a weak league and anyone would succeed there but I do think he did well in Europe, he seems to be the sort of manager who can get the best out of players and, unlike the other candidates, his reputation is untarnished. Out of all the possible choices, I've no doubt that Lennon would give the players the biggest initial boost but the only question is whether he'd be good enough in the long term to sustain that. It's a gamble but one I'd be up for taking.
I'd be happy enough with any the four managers in the shortlist though. I like the shout of Phelan too, though I'd probably prefer him as an assistant to someone like Lennon or Hughton.

Tell it to Ronny Deila, who's taking the "success" out of successor...SmokinFrazier wrote:The one who excites me the most is probably Lennon. There's an element of doubt around his ability because the SPL is a weak league and anyone would succeed there

Point taken though that playing in that fish-in-a-barrel league is barely preparation for here. Not saying he wouldn't do well at it but it's a very different job.

Mike, you've spent years as assistant to Red Nose - how do you fancy a step up and being assistant to Hughton?SmokinFrazier wrote:I like the shout of Phelan too, though I'd probably prefer him as an assistant to someone like Lennon or Hughton.
