"You're a stupid tw@t."
"Right, son. Your name's first on the team sheet from now on..."
Yes. I've been there.

... & you're right. It often fails.

But if he's telling people to hold back, to invite the opposition on ... and it's plainly not working. When a player eventually says "this plainly isn't working boss" then what ?
Ain't that what your assistant manager is for? (unless his name is Lennie Lawrence...or indeed Phil Neal with Graham Taylor).
But you're right. There ought to be some mechanism for players' representatives to tell a manager if they really aren't comfortable with what's going on.

Not sure if these have been posted yet. Noticed McNaughton refer to something in his interview that I thought I'd seen live, but given no-one else mentioned it thought was just the picture.

Looks like, when their guy hit the bar second-half with that deflected shot (about 1:04) that Lonners got fingertips to it. If so, that is a fecking outstanding save!
I know you don't get the full picture watching selected highlights, but how often did Danns get beaten in that short clip? At least five?!

What a difference a week makes.

a team playing with purpose and drive (albeit it littered with poor decision making, still).

As rightly pointed out, DF would've got pelters for naming that 11.. But then he'd have had them camped on our own 6 yard line and 3-0 down at full time

Lennon had to sack Tomo for off-field "things". By phone, because Tomo didn't turn up to the meeting Lennon had arranged in Newcastle.

It's perhaps not off the table, but it would require something of a leap of faith from the manager, and some assurances that Tomo's behaviour has changed.

ive had it on good authority that the Thommo sacking came from above Lennon and there is no personal ill feeling. Thommo had gone off the rails a bit following a marriage breakdown. Id like to see him come in here and its not unrealistic, although we already have all positions filled? if he's head of the acadamy at brum i cant see him walking out on that unless he's offered some responsibility here - but id hate to see Jimmy get the shove!

Let's not go bringing people in just because they were once here/associated with the incumbent manager. Drafting a raft of folk in from old clubs was one of the many reasons for ill feeling towards Coyle, Freedman...

No jobs for the boys unless he does a job for the boys, not just that he had a job for the Bhoys. or something.

Yep.. People proven on ability rather than sentiment is how we'll progress.. It's always nice to have that spirit of old around the place, but not to the detriment of player development

He wasn't head of the Blues Academy (Jiminho's job at Bolton), he was the Development/U21s coach - the job that Jamie Fullarton was doing until he followed Freedman out the door. Which technically leaves a vacancy, but I'm sure I read that Lennon was thinking of giving that job to Andy Hughes - although that would presumably rule out either him doing anything with the Devvies on a Saturday (when they don't tend to play) or being in the first-team squad (which he increasingly was under Freedman but not in Lennon's first game).

Note though that at Celtic, Tomo didn't have that job: from summer 2010 to summer 2012 he was first-team coach, alongside Garry Parker, but GP appears to have carried on without his help thereafter.

Interesting. Didn't know Tomo's marriage had ended.

Weren't Tomo and Diddsy married to sisters at one point?

Not sure if that helps discussion, but it might be worth remembering.

They were indeed ... even lived next door to each other for a time.

I'd be surprised to see him return but if he does then it'd be a nice addition to Team Lennon.

It's rumoured that every taxi driver in Bolton knew Thommo's address, because he could never remember it after a skinfull.

Every time I saw Tomo interviewed (by Dave Higson, of course) he seemed totally stupid.

 that's the funniest thing I've read in a long time. And I concur wholeheartedly.

I've got a roadrunner vid from 93/94/95 and there are some quality interviews on there. Good times!
