And then suddenly we are the Bolton Dragons, playing in red and signing big names that would be better off in the Indian Premier League.

Yeah... rather not be one of the feeder teams in a conglomerate, Watford-style, ta. I'll settle for vainly attempting to win stuff.

If the club did the approaching and if the money's right, get used to the idea. Nothing stops the money train. Papaya salad and trotters at the Siam Orchid Stadium, anybody? .....

Or Leicester. They seem content enough.

P.G seems to be denying any knowledge of it in the Bolton News?

And he has a fax in his pocket to prove/disprove it. But £40 Million? Does that mean ED is ready to lose £120 Million? Or will it be just the ground sold and the rest of the complex kept by ED? Scrub the green curry and lets have another look at that fish again. 8)

He's already lost it. Nobody would ever pay anywhere near that for Bolton.

The devil will, as ever be in the detail. Strangely enough, despite the debt, I don't feel very threatened by ED holding the purse strings. I think he's clearly tried very hard to give us what he can afford.

I'd be delighted with a City style takeover. I'd be pi$$ed with a Portsmouth, Leeds, Brum style take over. Which one is it?

anyone explain in simple terms how this would work & make much of a difference - other than perhaps being shown in Thailand pretty frequently ?

Our ownership & debts are with ED - presumably this would be about sharing or giving control in return for giving ED some money back ?
Doesn't the club own the facilities which is ideal position & therefore potentially would have to give some of element of this away, which seems a poor deal.
FFP is the determinant of spend, so unless the current regime wants someone to help share the pain/ max out under current limit or gamble on spending beyond it & getting promoted, would it make much of a difference ?

Nothing will alter our FFP position. While we get a limited turnover, due to reduced footfall and lower tv revenues we will need to cut our cloth to match. The hotel doing well, the value of the land and property is all great and makes the overall health of the business better but FFP is about matching footballing revenue and outgoings more closely. If our debts were £0 we'd still be constrained by FFP in terms of buying & selling players, wages we could offer, etc.

ED being the owner means we know who it is, what his interests are. We are relatively comfortably with him. Any other source, like this, and the fact that property values are mentioned leads our eye to this point, is something which affects the overall business. Unless we knew the people that would make us fearful. Rightly or wrongly.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Nothing sounds completely outrageous yet.

I'd just say that the same person who owns the club should also own the stadium and training ground, and probably the hotel.

Re-branding wise I'd be ok with the Wanderers being called by the nickname the trotters. You could have a logo with an angry pig on it raising one arm in a combative stance.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

You no-doubt heard the tale about Trotters (jokers)? Guy from Bolton bet a bloke passing through that he could hold his foot in a bowl of boiling water the longest. Bolton lad won easily. He had a wooden leg..

from a quick look bectero and siamsports are two different corps , they (the country) change prime minister about 4 times a week, so carnt see a co-owner-y thing working well. plus its a bit too near to malaysia for hans segers style bribes for me.

This sounds worrying.

The final quote being "It will be a good way of getting Thai players into the English game".

They don't seem to have the club at heart which ED does. They seem to want to use it as a vessel to put Thai football on the map.

Smells of a turd the morning after a thai green curry.
