Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
Right, snappy title, no Arabian involvement but also no money to spend.
Lennon has to ship some out before he buys back in. Who do we want to get in, who should stay and who can go.
My starter for ten:
Bogdan and Chunky will both go on permanent deals or loan with a view to a permanent deal.
Hall needs to go out on loan and get some match time in and Mason will be off back down the M5. Trotter may as well not be here.
Personally, I'd like to see Scott Sinclair come in on loan with Wilson from the scum, but we dont yet know how much clout NL has in the market.
Thoughts?

Bogdan will go, but it won't be a for a lot of money. I think Lennon will try to keep Chungy, mainly due to him being the fulcrum of our attack at the moment with most of our attack play coming through him.
Mason will re-join Cardiff as they haven't looked brilliant. Andrews will hopefully find a club and we can get his ridiculously high wages off the books. This should free up a bit of cash.
I can see an attempt for Leigh Griffiths from Celtic, who hasn't played that many games for Dalia. I can also see an attempt for Commons but whether we have the money to swing it? I'd like Sinclair but could we afford his wages?
I can't see Wilson joining us as he's played again today and Van Gaal has already suggested that he's first team worthy.

Sorry BB, but you were begging other clubs to buy Chungy live on national radio after the Watford game. Your credibility rating is zero!
Can't see Chungy going with him being missing for most of January. Definitely need a striker or two, ship out Trotter, Moxey and send Wilkinson out on loan, to start with.

He was on his knees for Accrington Stanley to take him away.

And I wasn't alone! No one can deny he's a different player under Lennon. Still, in the same phone call, I also slated Moxey and verbally slapped Robbie Savage, so 2 out of three ain't bad. If you believe Meatloaf.

You're on drugs if you think the scum would loan us Wilson. I can imagine Sinclair having options in the prem too but he might be worth a cheeky punt. Perhaps Everton would let us help Kone get match fitness?
If we can find some clowns to take Trotter and Moxey, that would be good business. Their wages can't be too ridiculous, so it's possible. Boggy and Wheater are 2 big earners from our prem days whose wages we could afford to shift, but no way can we let Chungy go. With Mavies injured he's our only creative outlet

To be fair, we could've done with him on Saturday.William the White wrote:My delight is muted.jaffka wrote:Heskey is coming.

Hmm.... 9 in 92 for Villa at age 30-34
But between him and Eidur we might almost have 90 minutes!

But isn't that like criticising SKD for his lack of goals?Athers wrote:Hmm.... 9 in 92 for Villa at age 30-34

I mean Columbia's Rene Higuita and Paraguay’s Jose Luis Chilavert have both scored more international goals than Heskey and they're both goalkeepers.
But on Saturday we were desperate for someone to make the ball stick up top and I think that Heskey could've been that man.

Please don't laugh at this suggestion - given we need a big lump up front who can give their central defenders a bit of a hard time why not use the biggest lump we've got AKA Trotter. Given he's useless in midfield it would at least stop him causing problems there and he couldn't be any less effective than the featherweight that is Wilkinson.

Anyway, bad idea IMO. The big lump needs to make the ball stick and bring others into the game. I've not seen anything to suggest he's capable of that. For me, I'd forget strikers and play 2 of our most mobile players up there with Eidur to link with them from deeper. No point playing to a Davies type when we don't have one. Move the ball quickly and use Eidur's nouse to break 'em down.
Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
I take your point but if he was 1 in 10 man four years ago I'm concerned he'd ever score a goal for us! Even goal-shy K Davies was 1 in 5 and most round these parts would say he was a much better hold up man than Heskey from 2008-12.Bruce Rioja wrote:But isn't that like criticising SKD for his lack of goals?Athers wrote:Hmm.... 9 in 92 for Villa at age 30-34

Maybe I think one bit-part veteran in that part of the pitch is enough really. Re; Saturday I agree but also I don't think the team adjusted yet to playing without C Davies, but then I suppose we won't be playing a top team every week either

Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
Heskey was alright the last time I saw him in the Premier League. He's not a goalscorer but he gets more stick than he deserves because he was the epitome of everything that was frustrating about the England national team for a period, but he's not a bad player. I don't know what he's been like since moving to Australia but if he's around the sort of level he was in 2012 for Villa, he'll be a good addition to our squad.
