Where are they now? Tyrone Mears.
Tyrone Mears is apparently heading to my local team, Seattle Sounders FC:

Mears should probably be OK at MLS level, but our previous right back was DeAndre Yedlin, a lightning-fast local kid who has just left for Tottenham. Going to be a bit of a step backwards, I think.

He was on trial at Everton recently, which amazed me. He's not been that bad a player over his career, but I'd doubt his motivation, simply because he must have had opportunities to play elsewhere since Dougie ostracised him. Strange situation all round.

Meh - I'd guess that he was turning 30 and wanted to protect the contract we'd given him, considering nobody was going to pay 100% of the wages handed to him by Stan Coyle & Ollie Gartside. It's not like he's averse to adventure - this is the guy who, when offered a trial at Marseille and realising he didn't have his boots, climbed in through the window at Derby's training ground and tiptoed past Porn Jewell's office...LeverEnd wrote:He was on trial at Everton recently, which amazed me. He could have protected the contract while playing on loan though. I don't know what offers he got to be fair.
