Middlesbrough 1-0 Bolton Wanderers

Posted at 20:24

BBC Sport's Matt Newsum at Riverside Stadium: "Middlesbrough go ahead. The first signs they were gaining a foothold on the game was the Patrick Bamford chance well saved by Ben Amos. However, Amos had no chance when Lee Tomlin slipped a delicious pass to Albert Adomah, who finished coolly. It's harsh on Bolton, who have defended brilliantly, with ex-Boro man David Wheater playing superbly."

And now....can we recover...course we can. COME ON YOU WHITES PLAYING IN NAVY BLUE.... :oyea:

Free kick us for a foul on Eidur and...it becomes one for them. Get back lads, come on....and Bannan gives away a throw? Lennon in fine voice at somebody? Now Bannan, Heskey and....cleared. Janko making a bit of noise and...Wheater puts one in the stand and.....again they visit but Vela shepherds it out. Our central defenders are the toast of the town at the moment (their town, by the way). Leadbetter figuring well again. Moxey doing pretty fair it seems. We get a surprise free kick when it was expected to be against us. They clear and come again and.....again....and......Bamford misses a sitter.

We actually need 2 or 3 new centre backs, ones who can actually defend, plus full backs, midfielders & attackers - saying that a complete new team

I know Boro are 2nd but on paper they are hardly a team of world beaters - they mainly have a team of decent championship & Ex League 1 players, must be down to player attitude, confidence, work rate & organisation - of which we have none

And our free kick comes to nought as a header is saved. Vela being unfriendly on Friend and....a bit of handbags and.....Josh goes in the book. .....Half time....

It's the visitors' chance to apply the pressure as Janko unleashes a fierce shot from a tight angle, which Dimi Konstantopoulos just about gets the better of.

But then at the other end, Bolton fall asleep at the back and Patrick Bamford somehow misses from a couple of yards out after a frantic goalmouth scramble.

Sounds to me that our defence just fell asleep....again!! It's no good defending ok ish for 25-30 minutes in a half if we're going to fall asleep in say a 10 minute spell, especially against a fairly decent side. This defence need drilling every training day how to be organised

I doubt that it would make any difference, we are absolutely weak as piss in central midfield going forward & protecting the defence.

It's the same with the defence, week in, week out. They can never concentrate for prolonged periods and always end up making mistakes. It's beyond a joke now.
Also Heskey and Eidur up front together does not f'in work!!!!

They were shocked, poor things.

HALF-TIME

Middlesbrough 1-0 Bolton Wanderers

Posted at 20:44

The hosts are in front at half-time. Albert Adomah's goal separates the sides at the interval but let's not forget the build-up play - the Bolton back line looked shocked that Lee Tomlin was cheeky enough to attempt the pass that sent Adomah clean through.

Part Two commenceth:

Smoke will have filled the dressing room during the interval, methinks. 15000 in the ground and .....some positive (hopeful ) noises from the commentary box .No changes mentioned and....a bit of chat by the voice and then.....here they come and....we do a bit of pressing and....Janko, Bannan, Moxey....and Heskey heads over. Throw them and back they come but...it goes out. If we can get an early goal it could all change for us. Heskey's work-rate getting praise and....now Wheater gets spoken to and they get a free kick. Tomlin getting plenty mention and....Friend keeps it in then wins a corner off Janko. And....Leadbetter....and...Wheater gets it away for another corner. And......cleared.

Amos sails one forward and commentator has a chat with somebody and then Bamford misses another sitter after a Dervite error. Now we string a few passes together, they clear, we move forward and.....Vela's cross grabbed by the keeper. Thankfully, Bamford is having a bad night.

They take a quick free kick and now have a corner. They sound to be all over us and it's worrying. Amos punches clear then we win a free kick via Moxey. Throw us and....Dervite sails one nowhere then gives a free kick away. Not impressing anyone apparently. And....and....we whack one forward and it all ends up with Amos. Come on lads, .....and Dans does well but none of it is actually getting chances in. Eidur sounds like he needs replacing, he's losing the ball a lot. Corner us now and.....Eidur heads wide after being fed by Dervite. Janko and....it ends up a throw to us. Now Janko and......we get the corner....and....and.....Heskey heads one at the keeper. Still getting good words from the mic man.
