Heskey's fvckin shit.. Absolute waste of a squad place and whatever we're paying him is too much.

We could give him a £10k a goal bonus!! His salary for the year should be no more than £13k!BWFC_Insane wrote:Scored more than Michael Ricketts though....Bruce Rioja wrote:I shan't.jaffka wrote:Don't hold back here, what's your honest opinion of our 3 most recent signings?Bruce Rioja wrote:We've signed three shithouses. Heskey scored less goals internationally than both Jose Luis Chilavert and Rene Higuita. They are goalkeepers!!!!
Seriously I don't get the Heskey signing. I can only assume it is because he's on £50 a week and a £1000 per goal bonus or something...

Aye but we still need another striker, we all know that.throwawayboltonian wrote:Probably that and to give Madine a break so he's not our only physical attacking option.BWFC_Insane wrote:Scored more than Michael Ricketts though....Bruce Rioja wrote:I shan't.

Also nice to see we've signed another defender, even if his surname does sound like bird shit
But instead of Heskey would could have signed a proper back up or second striker and probably gotten away with it.

you hope. NLs lauding of some of his performances last season was a bit laughable. Think I said at the time, if we wanted someone fulfilling that kind of role - someone to lump it up to, but whose legs had gone, SKD would have been a better betBWFC_Insane wrote:Scored more than Michael Ricketts though....Bruce Rioja wrote:I shan't.jaffka wrote:Don't hold back here, what's your honest opinion of our 3 most recent signings?Bruce Rioja wrote:We've signed three shithouses. The thing is, though, Heskey's legs haven't gone. I went to Brentford, and some of the running he did was unbelievable. He even showed a bit of pace at times.
I'm not his biggest fan, but he's got more in the tank than SKD has.

Yeah all those strikers don't really appeal to me.
I'm willing to trust Lennon for now on this one, but the big man might become a stick Bolton fans use to beat Lennon with if things go badly wrong.

Gee, ain't that so Bolton. Beating up the manager and we haven't even kicked a ball in the first gamer of the season yet. Get in there..Jugs wrote:Yeah all those strikers don't really appeal to me.

Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!
I have a feeling that Lennon isnt too fussed about bringing in another striker as I think he's only going to play 1 upfront, being Madine, with Clough & Davies behind him (as he'll have to play both if both are fit), then theres Clayton to throw into the mix, and then Dobbie & Heskey as back up. If thats the case then I think other areas are more of a priority than striker.
Also if we had singed ALF (Which I really rate him), I'm not sure you could've played an attacking triangle of him, Clough and Davies as all they would be short of is Snow White to lead them, which in a physiacl championship game maybe to lightweight of an attack.

I know he's gone to Wolves, but no need to singe ALF!

I think Heskey still has something to offer in an obviously limited way. He should be a lot fitter than he was on arrival and although he can't finish and will never be easy on the eye he's a big bastard who can can still scare a CH. And as a mentor to Madine, who probably needs one.
I'm looking forward to Madine dominating Mills then Heskey coming on for for 10 mins to jump all over him while dougie weeps in his dugout.

Pisano, Barker and I will be very happy with our summer business.
Nixon saying we are looking to sign a 'mystery striker'

It does sound like Pisano would be a useful addition.freeindeed wrote:Pisano, Barker and I will be very happy with our summer business.
I like the look of this Prince geezer too.
Who's Barker, though?

Man City (Left I think) winger who just signed a 4 year contract, but is going out on loan. Fast and tricky.
We are definitely interested - but other clubs are also.

hmmmm... how did it turn out last time we signed a Prince?
edit: um... forget that - Kangana N'Diwa was a Lord, not a Prince!

I think looking at the two Manchester clubs youth setups for players is what all of the clubs surrounding them should be doing. Look at the money City are putting into their academy setup, yet how many of those players will make the cut at that level? What we should be doing is looking to scoop those players up because whilst they might not be world-class or cut out for European football they could do a great job for us or any of the similar Lancashire clubs.
If we could get this Barker lad on loan I'd be very happy, looks talented and must have some great coaching over there at City.

Makes expensive shoes in Northampton. We'll have Charles Church at the back, too.Jugs wrote:
