Aye. Left back (given he doesn't seem to trust Kellett and one game a decent Moxey does not make), right back. Then up front.

Prince, Derik, Wheater, Dervite + kids should be alright, no?
On the face if it yes. But Wheater is walking wounded, Derik unproven and we've only seen Prince have one game....Dervite was not that convincing last season either for significant portions of it at least.

If we sell Ream we could do with a utility player, someone who can play in a few positions across the backline. Like say a Whitlow who could play LB or CB. If we could get one of those then we could invest in a winger and a striker and be better all round.

But of course that assumes we get the money and Lennon is allowed to spend it.

I don't understand Kellett either but I think he'd only ever be a winger for us. Too small in my view for the sort of fullback Lennon wants.

We agreed a deal with Austin in March. Then start of the summer had to cancel it as it turned out we had no money. Austin's agent said that the other week.

That Honduran guy at Celtic is only a midget - Albeit a very talented one

Sheffield Wednesday agreed a deal with Austin, but work permit issues have surfaced because Jamaica is ranked 55th in FIFA, and the new UK work permit rules now says countries of players who are nationals of non Europeans countries must be ranked in the top 50. It was formerly top 75. He has other offers to play in Turkey and the MLS in US, but he wants to stay in England where his son was born.

There is currently a petition going round to keep him playing in this country apparently.

It really is utter bollocks on the day West Brom bang 12 million on somebody from 48 ranked Venezuala

Are we really arguing that 2, or even 7 places means owt at around rank 50

Somebody may educate me that he holds a Spanish passport, but that would be equally bollocks :)

Jussi's gone to Wigan. Good on him – useful for his family life and he'll hopefully be welcome back here when he's ready to go into coaching (frankly I'm slightly surprised he isn't already, what with being 40).

And yes, this means Wigan can more easily afford his wages (and presumably offer first-team football). And no, IMHO we really shouldn't have tried. I'm still to be convinced that we even need a second goalkeeper - again, I'd be tempted to try Fitzsimons tonight, see if he can hack it. He's 21, not 16 (like, say, Reece Oxford) – and if disaster befalls, the loan market's there.

Burnden Aces now reporting that Fulham are also in for Ream. Let the bidding war commence!

I wondered if the injury was being exaggerated as smokescreen, but Lennon was very specific about it so probably not. Would be sad to see him go. Some flaws in his game, but compared to minutes played the mistakes aren't really that numerous. To give him his dues, when others are dropping like flies, he keeps going every week.
If it means a decent wedge and 2 or 3 more players in key positions though, so be it.

Agreed! we've seen some of the tricks that Lennons pulled at of the hat! I like Ream but if it gives Neil some money to spend.....so be it!

I'd say he keeps going because he avoids the physical stuff.....

The loss here is a versatile player covering two positions. That is the worry can cover for those areas be found whilst also strengthening elsewhere. I'd probably back Lennon to do that but it won't be easy even with a decent fee.

From memory, Ream played a game and a half in midfield

...perhaps over three games. He'd start in midfield, then when we inevitably conceded Freedman would (rightly) rejig the line-up, bringing on a striker for a centre-back.

That was when the team were absolute pish, and maybe Ream could have done a job there in a more confident side. But defensive midfield is probably our most overstaffed position - Spearing, Vela, Pratley, Danns, Medo, even Mavies (with a different remit) can all play there.

Ream's reasonably wide skillset (compared to, say, Wheater) enabled him to a do a job at left-back and perhaps in defensive midfield. But really, he's a centre-back, and he's just not quite good enough at it. It's not his fault he cost more than a third of the Cahill cash and is less than a tenth of the player - but it's notable that Coyle, Freedman and Lennon have all recruited centre-backs since.

So we could possibly be getting twice what we got for Chungy.

Funny old game. Maybe we can spend half of it getting him back.

If we flog Ream we're gonna have to try and loan or sign a left-back because we can't go through this entire campaign with Mox as the only specialist left back. Any ideas what's happened to Kellett?

That, and he's got a cracking pass and an eye for an opening. I still hold that his better performances came when he was played in more of a defensive midfield/holding midfield role for a short period a season or two back. But yeah I think we'll miss his versatility more than his actual game and playstyle.

If it allows us to bring in Pisano and another player or two, then I think it's a no brainer.

EDIT: Also Nicko (I know...) has him down as being all but out of the door and "being sold to the highest bidder". I'd embed the tweet but it's a protected account, so those without an account can't see it.
The word is that he's instructed his agent to find him a club in that London.

I guess Mrs Ream fancies better shopping.

He could stay with the Pencil Biter when he first arrives. He has a spare room and t least he wouldn't be eating in Nando's all the time.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Lennon doesnt see kellett as s left back. I'd agree. However his dissapearence from the first team picture altogether this summer is puzzling. We're not awash with width.

I think he was used as a wing back

I've known Andy most of his life and I'm surprised he's got this far with his being so small, but I'm convinced the lad capable of that cameo against Sheffield Wednesday has something to offer

He's also a proper trier with a great attitude
