I suspect we may, potentially, have "the three" (from Prince, Dervitte and Derik) but not the two wingbacks.

That said we need to get the basics right before trying to be exotic.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

There's nothing wrong with any formation as long as you've got the players which suit it. United couldn't play 3 at the back last year but Juventus can because they had a quality back three and wing backs in Lichsteiner and Asamoah who will run all day, defend and can attack. It doesn't mean the formation is right or wrong, you've just got to have the personnel for it. If Lennon has been told we'll be able to sign players who fit a 3-5-2 system, I have no issue with us playing it now because by the time they're brought in, we'll be able to make it work and maybe it will be a perfect formation for us then? You can't just switch formations when you've got the players either, it has to be worked on in training and in games, so that excuses Lennon trying it out now.

We should have played 4-5-1 when still in the Premier League under Coyle, we should have played 4-4-2 under Freedman but both of them continuously chose to go against what was right. I hope, and think, Lennon will be more flexible than they were.

Don't do that BB!!
Following a hard morning on the allotment & an afternoon barbie with some old (northern) friends at the beach hut, my vision has been slightly affected by a drop or two of alcohol.

Even with my glasses, I first read it as; 'that on Wednesday we are in for both Hooper and Jones'.

Ah, perchance to dream....................

Rumours circulating on Twitter about Hull being in for Clough.

Not having it myself. If there is any truth, the fee better be large!

Hull were supposed to have been in for Vela a few weeks back.

Clough will leave us eventually, assuming we don't accidentally get promoted, but not yet and not to a Championship side and certainly not to Hull.

I've still got a Man-crush on Mic-Mac!! Think he would have been ace here!! Garty probably thought he was a bit too similar to Allardyce and didn't want another boring (SUCCESSFUL),Manager on his hands!!

I think this thread has finally started to bear fruits after the early disappointment. The pitch forks have been put away for the moment and a stay of execution declared for Plymouth.

You were confident things were going to get better and they have. Pleasantly surprised with our new additions but still need a striker who can score a few. From what I saw on Saturday, we should finish mid-table with an outside chance of a play off spot if NL can pick up a decent up and coming striker for next to nothing.

It's possible. Many a player have been plucked on a free or from a non league team and go on to be a good player! It's no impossible.

I'm not happy until trotters gone! I'm quietly confident that he will. If not, I'll execute myself :hang:

Clayton will be a boost to the forward line if we can get him back and keep him fit. We definitely need a fox in the box though.

The Oracle suggesting that Hooper is having a 'look round' Sheff Wed and deciding if it's for him  :?

This is the 'fat' player who was suggested earlier in the thread, didn't Eidur turn up here out of shape first time round?

Eidur had been injured for a while when at PSV though so hadn't had much football to keep him fit when he first came to us.

Markkanen hasn't played much football for a 24 year old... 28 games in Finland, 14 in the Allsvenskan, and then 10 for Real Madrid B... That's only a few games more than there are in a whole Championship season!
