If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!

Where fellow sufferers gather to share the pain, longing and unrequited transfer requests that make being a Wanderer what it is...

I don't think you should play Nolan instead of Clough

I don't think you should pay Nolan instead of a striker

Next
Nolan behind a striker. Perhaps not a starter, but off the bench. We need goals. Nolan will score goals. He's also the right sort of character.

No brainier for me. Obviously not thinking about money as I suspect he's asking too much.

But football wise, he'd be ideal.

Nolan would score more than Danns, Mark Davies and Trotter combined in my view.

And on Nolan:
It comes down to finances but I’m not sure Kevin fits the criteria of what we are looking for. I don’t know whether we could afford him. He’s certainly a good type and I’ve always liked him. He knows where the goal is as a midfielder. I know his reputation at Bolton is very good and if we could do a deal, then possibly.
I think, on balance, me neither...

yes - we could do with some pointy/shouty do-or-die leadership on the pitch... but have we room for another ageing, slow midfielder? if so - at the cost of leaving out who? would there still be room for current-saviour Pratley f'rinstance...

Yeah. What could Kevin Nolan do that Liam Trotter can't?!
nice one liner :D BUT - if we only have enough cash to bring in one more player - would you spunk it on Nolly - or on an actual striker?

as I said - I'm not 100% sure either way - but on balance - I agree with Mr Neil Lennon! :oyea:

Is there no way we could play Nobby up front? I think playing him in midfield would be an error, as he doesn't quite have the engine he used to, but we're all agreed that he knows where the goal is; he's strong, decent in the air, why couldn't we play him up front with Clough just off him?

If we only have the money for one we are pretty screwed anyway because it seems unlikely one player will add enough goals into the side.

cheer up - it's happened before! In fact, isn't it our new model? loan in a striker who scores us some goals - then lose him when his term ends and wish we had one of our won... (repeat to fade)

I thought he & Lenin fell out badly ?

I did wonder if it may allow an open in for Nolan ? Maybe daft but just a thought.
