At the time Derik got injured NL made a comment about disruption to the CB pairing he'd been working on in pre-season. There was a leaked (and probably false) spreadsheet in another thread a few weeks back that seemed to suggest that fringe squad players/development players (e.g. Twardzik) were on about 25-30k p/a. That equates to about £500-600 per week, post tax, and seems about right to me regardless of accuracy of the supposed leak. They're not at the top of the game, but still make a living out of it. Imagine it's similar figures, possibly a little higher, for League 1/League 2 first team players without looking into it.

Wow really!? There must be academy coaches, ticket office staff, kit man, press officers etc on that much??

Can't imagine a professional footballer, in the 2nd tier of English football earns less than the national average??

which is why I'd originally said, that I assumed it would have been a straight swop for feeney - but its all individual speculation and assumption, seemingly flavoured with a pro/ against NL stance. Personally just don't get the hyperbolic venting and criticism of NL that seems to be creeping onto the board.

Meanwhile, we're looking in the other direction. If we're as skint as we seem to be there's absolutely no chance of us hoovering up Premierish-level players, we just can't afford them. Either kids from clubs who can foot their wages (eg Wellyboot) or unwanted free transfers (eg Pisano). Can't even imagine us signing League One players at the mo, we can't afford the transfer plus wage. We're looking down the back of the couch hoping to find not a ten-bob note but a player, asleep.

Any idea what our current wage limit is; surely selling Ream must have freed up a good ~£15k, barring potential incomings?

I fear whatever Ream's wages it makes little difference in reality. The objective is to lower costs, not free up wages so they can be spent elsewhere.

Decent signings these two IMO

Wellington Silva will very quickly become a crowd favourite at the Macron....he may need a couple of games to get used to how shit we are, but I think he'll link up really well with M Davies & Z Clough - apparently he's very quick and if NL gets the team to play to his strengths he'll give us a real threat going forward - all we need now is someone who can convert the opportunities that he'll create !

I also have a feeling Pisano will be the best right back we've had for a good few years.
