With the ridiculous numbers of loan players coming and going in the past year, I no longer have a clear picture of the overall squad balance and where we need to strengthen. Its further confused in particular with the return of our defensive midfield cast offs.
Anyone care to outline where we most need strengthening?

Defence, midfield and up top.

Wings and full backs in particular, though our CBs scare the crap out of me too...

Perfect! I feel much better informed now.

What is it with us and fullbacks? Under Sam we always had converted forwards and non full backs there...get specialists and let everyone play in their preferred positions.

I think Baptiste will be solid at CB, whenever I saw him at full back his positioning looked awkward.

Whether we have the cash for all those positions seems doubtful, but It was Lenin's job to spread his budget evenly. Hopefully he's got it covered..

Lennon turned up tonight to watch the kids vs Atherton.

Finished 1-1

On the subject of Lennon leaving..

Some fans said he told them see what happens next week.

Some said he told them he is going nowhere.

Hmmmm.

Well it's as simple as if they approach him - he goes. Question is will they?

Went on Saturday and to be honest, nobody really stood out as being capable or exciting.

Wilkinson, showed a couple of good touches and looked like if he could've been arsed, he would have been a step above everyone else on the pitch.

Anything after an hour though, don't ask - I was pissed.

Great day out though and I left the house with £40 got drunk, got a programme, a ticket and a return train pass and came home with a tenner. That's how football should be. Cracking club are Atherton Colls and the whole place is very pro-BWFC

Interesting Iles piece about BWFC's relationship with small local clubs. Apparently the first time we'd ever played Colls.

I went there to watch their first XI play a Wanderers legend XI for some charity thing for McGinlay a few years back. Had a beltin' evening and met Jay-Jay who I think was managing the legends (he was still a Wanderers player at the time). Much like Chorley, a really friendly non-league club.

:D

Hierro's son went to my school and was a little shit. Iain Dowie's son went too and when I was in 6th form I "managed" a year 8 house football team that had the names "Hierro" and "Dowie" on the teamsheet!

Haha, that's something not everyone can say!

We had a few footballing kids. I was a couple of years above Jimmy's lad, I think we also had Garry Flitcroft's son in the lower years when I was in 6th form. Probably some others, cricket, rugby, that I'm forgetting.

But yeah Jay-Jay I'd say was the "biggest" person I used to see around and chat to. Really have a lot of respect for him, he absolutely lives and breathes football. Or did at the time at least :)
Roughly how old would that make him? I ask because I notice Flitcroft stood down as Chorley manager this summer saying he wanted to support his son's professional career like his dad had supported his. That's a new one on me! Wouldn't surprise me to see him rock up at the next lower-league NW team to need a maanger (though perhaps not Bury!)

Has anyone got any idea where in Austria the training camp is taking place and if there's public access to it. Believe it or not, the club claimed to have no idea!
