has there been any further news in the BN or elsewhere about his condition/recovery?

No, and I don't suspect there will be much as the BN reported his family had requested privacy.

Has the nature of his illness been confirmed even?

Was it a stroke?

Well, I think Insane is right about this and I don't think we'll hear much more (if any more at all). Illness wasn't confirmed as far as I know, and possible won't be. Lennon said he spoke to him on the phone and said that he sounded better.

It was widely reported on tinternet that he'd had a stroke but never confirmed by the club. What ever it is/was I wish him a speedy recovery.
