Re: The breaking News thread...
Have been thinking which multiple retailers who currently have no presence on Middlebrook might me interested in chucking something up on our car park. I can only think of B&Q.TANGODANCER wrote:Well, it's a car park at present......Lost Leopard Spot wrote:£20 million for a car park? Where is this, Belgravia???

Well, if the Sainsbury's deal goes through then they'll be shutting down all the Argos stores that lie within a half a mile of their supermarkets. Of course there isn't a Sainsbury's on Middlebrook but there is already an Argos. Can't see them wanting to whack up a new one in those circumstances.Worthy4England wrote:IHG were mentioned in dispatches at one point (Argos)...Bruce Rioja wrote:Have been thinking which multiple retailers who currently have no presence on Middlebrook might me interested in chucking something up on our car park. I'm not getting this. Maybe I need to see plans. But, anywhere that can be built to attract customers in, will need a car park. So we can't be selling a car park so somebody can build a store with no car park. And we can't sell a car park to somebody with no store. Not at twenty fxcking million.
That's not a leopard!

I'd still be banned but nonetheless it'd be a proper local addition.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

so it's not actually a "sale" of the car park as much as an advance on a future joint-venture development opportunity??

New Normid. An advance of around £6million has now been secured against development on the land – which is expected to come to light in the next few month

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

It's a £6Million "Advance" on a joint project. So possible ED hiding a £20Million asset before the Administrators can get their hands on it. It'll all become clearer after 22nd Feb.
Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.

Re: The breaking News thread...
I am a bit confused or maybe stupid. I don't quite understand how the club can or maybe should be entering into a joint development project when we don't know who will own the club in the near future. Shouldn't any new owners make such decisions or at least be consulted on them. Does this imply a new owner has been agreed but not made public yet or that Eddie has now decided not to sell the club.
It just seems a bit strange to me. Sell off the land to raise some capital, yep I understand that even if it isn't the best long term solution. Enter into an agreement even though you don't really want to own the club anymore and you might be entering into something new owners will not agree with. Not sure how that works.
Just my thoughts

I'm not sure at this stage we know who owns the car park and what the terms of that deal really were.squares641 wrote:I am a bit confused or maybe stupid. But we needed a cash injection and seemingly the car park was the best way to raise it.
End of the day if the club still owns the asset that will be beneficial only for any new owner.
Re: The breaking News thread...
It looks to me like we are being creative and trying to maximise the amount of cash we can raise to make a sale happen without selling off all of our crown jewels... I'm glad Trev is on the inside pissing out rather than on the outside pissing in - I reckon he knows a thing or two about this stuff...
Re: The breaking News thread...
just spotted that a couple of days ago, Nixon tweeted the following:
who has run a couple of clubs and has pie-fingers?
oooh - another name to be revealed...Bolton. Tamraz 'move' being orchestrated by well known football figure who used to run a couple of clubs and has fingers in a lot of pies...
