Re: Shut the Gate, our horse has bolted - Bristol C (A) 19/0
Jimmy Pip's presser quotes, via Twitter:
Today is the first day of training. I am looking forward to working with the players. There are nine games to go and we will be looking to restore a little pride to the supporters.
We've played some good football this season, especially at home, without get the results the performances deserved. I've never been involved with a side that has gone through a season without winning away from home. We want to put that right. I'm confident that we can improve our fortunes in the next nine games.
We need to pick up some points quickly. There's a feeling of optimism as that's just how football works. We're not in a situation any club would want to be in. Whatever league we're going to be in next year, we need to improve. The supporters have been brilliant. It has been a hard season for them. We want to win games for them. Whatever will be will be.
Neil deserves credit for the opportunities he has given to our younger players. I wish him well for the future. Garry Parker and Steve Walford are still at the club. I am looking forward to working with them.
Dean and I played in the same together in the 90s. We had a good relationship. The whole town is delighted he has bought the club with his consortium. He has worked very hard to get it over the line.

You're welcome

The funniest music video I've ever seen. Never tired of it. Or looking at that brunette with the blue dress on. I'd buy her a buffet brekkie after parkrun any Saturday she chooses.

What's all this, shooting practise in training? What on earth is J.P.thinking about.... Never seen so many shots on target since Silcocks last had a fair here.

No idea : P
This could be the beer talking but I think if we win toorrow and everyone else loses and then we win the week after at home, the gap of 5 points with 7 games to go is not insurmountable. What do you think?

Being realistic and giving up ain't the same thing. Sometimes with the acknowledgement "there's nowt to lose", the pressure is off and some folks respond to that...

I was once given the dressing down of my life .... real "hairdrier" treatment .... when, at about 85 minutes into a game we'd not had even a shot in, and 3-0 down I guffawed at the shout of "c'mon, we can do this".Worthy4England wrote:Being realistic and giving up ain't the same thing. Apparently I was defeatist and lacked backbone. That we didn't get back into the game was, it seemed, my fault and people with my attitude were the reason Britain was going to the dogs !
I thought that was a bit harsh.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

Harsh but so true.

If you were playing against Bolton, you probably could have...bobo the clown wrote:I was once given the dressing down of my life .... real "hairdrier" treatment .... when, at about 85 minutes into a game we'd not had even a shot in, and 3-0 down I guffawed at the shout of "c'mon, we can do this".Worthy4England wrote:Being realistic and giving up ain't the same thing. I did give up once, and only once, but so did the rest. Queens Park; the pitch alongside the gasworks, darkest winter day, playing with a sodden ball that a well-placed hoof would move twenty feets max, mudwater over the boot-tops and so much of it that you could hardly see which side was which, everybody sodden...and then we got a massive stinging hail/snow storm. Sometimes, just sometimes, enough is enough...
