For new signings, ask the man from the Pru

he's had a rollercoaster reception, I think...throwawayboltonian wrote:Even though he arrived on a free, I place him as one of the worst signings we've made since the turn of the decade. A mediocre championship player signed in the EPL on higher than average wages. I don't go anywhere near as often as others on the board, but every game I've seen him in he's consistently been behind the flow of play (mentally) and often ballwatching; and going off match reports he seems to have had maybe 20 games where he's actually looked good in 5 years. To have him as captain really epitomises why we've fallen so far in such a short period of time.Prufrock wrote:Sole purpose of this thread, finally seeing that useless bastard off.
Can't wait to see the back of him personally and I hope you deliver Pru! Don't want him here until 2018 on a likely still quite high wage, especially in League 1 terms.
he has been lauded for some spells and hounded for other spells
there was a time when it was said by some (very strongly) that his injury absence was the missing link from Lennon's jigsaw... and that when he came back it would all work...

Can I just ask if anyone on here would be bothered if I started a 'Scouting' thread not about new signings or rumours but players that I think it might be worthwhile looking at?
Pfffft.

Good idea. Do it for the interest it'll cause mid season.TKIZ! wrote:Can I just ask if anyone on here would be bothered if I started a 'Scouting' thread not about new signings or rumours but players that I think it might be worthwhile looking at?

According to the Daily Star (I know) we were the 2nd lowest spenders in division 2 on agent fees for a period leading up to Feb this year. Considering we signed a fair few players, with some on a fair whack, in that period, it's a big improvement. Haven't the link to hand, but we 'only' spent 54k. QPR were top with 1m.

I would hope that by shopping in the lower leagues, agents fees become something from the past: "I'm sorry, we're offering you a move from Oxford Town to Bolton and your agent wants 50 grand"?? Look son, you either want to play at a higher level on decent money or you don't. He's your agent, you pay him......or stay at Oxford on 50 grand a year".

Here's the link. It covers the period from October 2015, so roundabout when the tap was turned off.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:According to the Daily Star (I know) we were the 2nd lowest spenders in division 2 on agent fees for a period leading up to Feb this year. In the previous twelvemonth we spent just shy of £1m, the 10th-highest in the division.

Thanks. I'd read it earlier and had the summer transfer window included in my head. Trying to think who came to us October onwards and can't think of anyone but maybe Ameobi?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Here's the link. Ameobi signed on 23 Oct, after he'd been released following a trial and we thought we could get someone better. On about 11 Nov the deal to borrow Wolves winger Rajiv van la Parra collapsed as it became obvious that Eddie had taken his wallet home.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Trying to think who came to us October onwards and can't think of anyone but maybe Ameobi?

Presumably most of it went on Ameobi's agent then. Hate to think how much our goalie's agent gotDave Sutton's barnet wrote:Ameobi signed on 23 Oct, after he'd been released following a trial and we thought we could get someone better. How appropriate would it be had he dropped his fee.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: Hate to think how much our goalie's agent got

Joking aside, he's the biggest problem we've got financially. No one else will touch him, especially not on the huge wages. And he's a useless liability we are stuck with and paying for for years.

Good news. I'm far from convinced on Walker but I guess he is cheap. Is Finney out on loan or is that Taylor?
Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru
Taylor. He's just helped Dagenham and Redbridge out if the league! Finney came in and had a bad game a few weeks ago but they obviously see enough in him.BWFC_Insane wrote:Good news. I'm far from convinced on Walker but I guess he is cheap. Is Finney out on loan or is that Taylor?
Agree on walker. Can put a decent cross in occasionally but I think he's very poor. Thought he'd be gone.
