Results are vital in pre-season. We all know this.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Bolton XI won 6 - 0 at Radcliffe Boro, Bolton team full of young academy lads, they played well against a much bigger, but less skilful team.
I feel reborn !!!! No more confussion

Fun day out, small stadium, small crowd, decent whites turn out. Per Frandsen and Claus Jensen in the stands, and they seemed to enjoy themselves.

First half Bolton looked something like this.

Amos
Osede-Finney-Dervite-Moxey
Wollery-Pratley-Vela-Walker
Clough-Madine

Madine was good (seriously) bullying the defence and a very impressive finish too for the goal.
Wollery impressed with his pace. The rest was pretty meh. Osede seemed slow and vela's passing weren't too impressive.

(Most of) 2nd half something like this:

Linus Muller (from Trelleborgs - I googled him)
Wilson-Finney-Beevers-Twardzik
Davies-Trotter-Spearing-Taylor
Wilkinson-Proctor

Beevers and Proctor doing well. Proctor a very limited player, but holds up the ball well and bullies the defence. Twardzik was a joke.

All in all a decent start. Slightly lucky to win it, but we did and that was fun
Oh coitus!

Thanks for the update Trotski.

Early days I know but was there a pattern of the play? More use of wingers, pass and move, punt it up to the big lad?

Apparently Clayton had a run-out too. Started second half on the left, then switched to the No.10 position when Taylor came on for Wilkinson.

True that. I knew i forgot something. Max was a bit rusty, but a few quality touches from him too. Same can be said for Clough.

And I don't know where to begin with describing the shiteness of Twardzik. Lost every bout out there and completed approximately zero passes. He'll be murdered in league 1.

Ten professional games at the age of 23, that's a level of shitness even Gerald Cid couldn't touch.

Iles said Twardzik started in (central, defensive) midfield, switched to right-back when Derik limped off, and played the second period at left-back. Was he equally awful in all three berths?

Only a Pre-season game but an important win to start off the new season. Hope we develop a "hate to lose" mentality this season and strive to win every game. What a change that would be for us long suffering supporters.

It is a manager actually doing his job. Unlike Lennon who never bothered with set piece training or working on shape and systems.

Lennon stole a living here.

Whether Parky works out here or not at least he will have a proper try.

^^ agreed. Lennon .... & I never got stuck into him having done so with his 2 predecessors ... was a great PR man. Good for a soundbite. He probably did have a rawer deal than he had a right to expect.

But when he said that they never worked on set pieces ... whether as an attacking option, or that it helped defensively ... I was stunned.
