So, this new manager...
Latest word is there's three candidates. We're not quite sure who one of them is - could be Brian McDermott, could be Steve Evans (despite denial), could be a mystery. But who would you want?
I think I'm tiptoeing toward Adkins, but I understand the Cotterill claims.

Adkins or Cotterill or Evans. It is a lottery really. Voted Adkins but frankly not convinced either way.
Really not keen on McDermott though I note he has moved to favourite with the bookies today - though that may mean little.

I'd agree that McDermott is a looooong way behind the other three for me.BWFC_Insane wrote:Adkins or Cotterill or Evans. It is a lottery really. Voted Adkins but frankly not convinced either way.

Can't really fathom why people would select Adkins over Cotterill. Look at their recent respective records in the division we will be playing in. On that basis alone I am in team Cotterill.

Probably because Cotterill seems a bit combustible and perhaps the feeling may be that we need a bit of a calmer influence?enrdentw wrote:Can't really fathom why people would select Adkins over Cotterill. I'd be "happy" with either in so much as none of the candidates reported in the press grab me much. I'd prefer Brownie but he's too expensive, and we've lost out on Jose through delay...

I think Cotterill's character is exactly what we need and McDermotts is exactly what we don't.BWFC_Insane wrote:Probably because Cotterill seems a bit combustible and perhaps the feeling may be that we need a bit of a calmer influence?enrdentw wrote:Can't really fathom why people would select Adkins over Cotterill. Bookies currently have McDermott as the solid favourite at 7/4 whilst Cotterill is 10/1.

I am: Adkins has been promoted from this division three times, subsequently helping Southampton to the Premier League. I can't really blame him for failing at basket-case club Sheffield United, like the three blokes they sacked in the three previous seasons.enrdentw wrote:Can't really fathom why people would select Adkins over Cotterill. Generally I agree, McDermott is absolutely bottom of my list, not keen at all.enrdentw wrote:I think Cotterill's character is exactly what we need and McDermotts is exactly what we don't.BWFC_Insane wrote:Probably because Cotterill seems a bit combustible and perhaps the feeling may be that we need a bit of a calmer influence?enrdentw wrote:Can't really fathom why people would select Adkins over Cotterill. However, the problem might come if we are reliant on a few kids, is Cotterill the right person to nurdle them through a season?

Re: So, this new manager...
It doesn't matter who gets it. It really doesn't. Past record is no guarantee to success or failure, that much we've seen in the past few years. On paper, I'd go with Adkins, but it may well depend on how much their agents want as commission and how much they think their reputation is worth in wages and bonuses. Whoever it is, I'll welcome them in, up until such time as they prove themselves useless or spent.
Uma mesa para um, faz favor. Obrigado.

McDermott is as much use as a wet toilet roll, hope the club doesn't appoint this failure.

Went for Adkins although was tempted to go for Cotterill. Either of those two if it is between the names on the voting list

Same for me, too. I don't know what I'll do if Evans gets it.twilight wrote:Went for Adkins although was tempted to go for Cotterill. Either of those two if it is between the names on the voting list

Not sure why Peter Reid isn't still on that list.

I don't believe he will though. Further - he's a rude, obnoxious nice person.BWFC_Insane wrote:If he wins games, celebrate...Bruce Rioja wrote:Same for me, too. Personally I don't really care what their personality is, it isn't like I'm going to be their drinking buddy. If they do a good job, fine by me.Bruce Rioja wrote:I don't believe he will though. I understand that and I broadly agree, however, he'll have to work with some very young players and I doubt very much that having some fat bloke loudly questioning your worth as a footballer is the best approach.BWFC_Insane wrote:Personally I don't really care what their personality is, it isn't like I'm going to be their drinking buddy.
