Not one for hyperbole but I can't imagine a much 'worse' draw in terms of gates. Arguably the least interesting 'big' team, plus a tiny team from miles away, plus a team we're also playing in the EFL Cup no EFL Trophy no yes EFL Cup (what used to be the League Cup).
Not sure yet which the home game(s) will be but I reckon there might be less than four thou on.

Which dickhead decided Cheltenham should be in the "Northern group"? I'd love that person to explain themselves. Publically.
This competition is now a farce. "groups". "Premier league B teams".
Should field our bloody academy lads and be done with it.

Aye imagine it would be. A place where drinks are quaffed, I imagine.
Not that a midweek four-hour round train journey would make me go there!

Re: EFL/Sherpa Vans/Vauxhall Motors/Johnstone Paints draw
Competition format explained
• Each group consists of Category One academy side, a team from both League One and League Two and then an extra team from one of those senior divisions.
• Each club plays every opposing team in the group once, home or away, before the top two teams qualify and compete in knockout stages towards the final at Wembley Stadium.
• EFL clubs must play a minimum of five 'First Team' players in the starting XI as defined in the competition's existing rules, while six of the starting line-ups for Category One academies need to be Under-21 (as of 30 June 2016).
• The round of 32 stays regionalised, with group winners at home to second-placed team from a different group
• The last 16 and quarter-finals are free draws, while the semi-finals will be played at the main stadium of the club drawn first in the tie
• Matches in the round of 16, last 16 and quarter-finals will go to penalties if they are level after 90 minutes. The details for the semi-finals and final will be confirmed by the EFL in due course.

Tbf, on the who is what region, presumably that's just the 32 teams the furthest North. It's hardly their fault if that includes Cheltenham??

Apparently it's because Cheltenham are one of the 12 most northerly league2 clubs.
