I wanted to "cut them to pieces".

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

^^ One win between the three of you from starting match threads last season...One. And that was when Hull couldn't be arsed anymore.

Yeah well, I would like to see Vela on the right back again, but I don't know if that's realistic.

Yup. Spearing for Vela in there, possibly Trotter for Pratley. But that's probably our line-up for Saturday...Nicko58 wrote:Spearing will start.Hoboh wrote:Get tattered if Vela starts there on his tod!Toni_DelijeSever wrote:

With Wilson and possibly one of Eardley or Richardson signed up come Saturday, I'd say that Vela is, at best, our third choice right back. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.Toni_DelijeSever wrote:Yeah well, I would like to see Vela on the right back again, but I don't know if that's realistic.

There's an interview in the BN with Vela and he said he was told right off the bat by Parkinson that he will play as a midfielder.

Judging by the variety of his selections and tactics so far Parky may go horses-for-courses: perhaps more solidity against the big teams, more forward-thinking players against teams we'd reasonably expect to beat.
In which case, it will be intriguing to see how he approaches a game against the clear title favourites... (they're 5/1, Charlton second at 9/1)
GM: I think he likes Clayton but the lad might start this game on the bench. I'd expect Pratley and Spearing in midfield, Davies and possibly Taylor adding invention (hopefully!). Be very interested to see who he chooses in goal.

Just had an PR email from a famous betting firm - Blades are the most commonly-backed side for promotion from Division Three, with Charlton not far behind and Millwall a distant third. More bettors have backed Port Vale for promotion than us, and we're shorter odds to go down than to win the league (although we're shorter odds still to go up. The value of your investments can go down as well as up, you never see a bookie on a bike, etc etc)

Well, I certainly know that their most famous fan had impulse-control issues.Bruce Rioja wrote:Yeah but, have you met the people of Burslem?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:More bettors have backed Port Vale for promotion than us
But I do find it at least slightly intriguing that more folks are backing them than us. Hopefully they're wrong, by the binary law of Bernie Slaven.
