Have absolutely no idea how it will go. Which in some ways is nice. Rather fear too many of the 'losers' from last year might feature. I really hope they've got some points to prove.

season decider... every game is a cup final... etc... :D
Start is critical for many reasons. We've had terrible starts for so long now we really need to build some early positivity, otherwise the decline may not yet be over.
I don't necessarily disagree but - Our last two relegation seasons on the opening days

We won 4-0 away and drew 0-0 at home
Yes true. First ten games I feel will define this season. Not always the case but hard to see us recover if things go really badly.

winning is always good! not convinced winning game 1 is startlingly more crucial than winning game 2 or 3... I shan't be writing us off if we lose the first game...

On the importance of a good start: can't be denied that it would help morale etc. But also worth noting that we bottomed out in about October under Rioch before going on the kind of winter-to-summer run that Parkinson has since enjoyed at Bradford.

In the past, "first ten games" has been a perfectly understandable benchmark for whether to get rid of the manager. This is very different.

I suspect we won't have a loan striker in for the first 4 games or so, which could mean a slow start. I'm certainly expecting one.

The problem with slow starts is that they sometimes develop into slow middles and disastrous endings...a ten game start that has us mid table probably ok. If you're not off bottom three after 10, looks a whole lot different.

Aye this. I'm not saying we need to be top after 10. Just not in the bottom 6.

I agree there are instances where teams recover from slow starts. I just don't think our players will be mentally strong enough to do so after their recent experiences here. Especially with fans on their backs.

Same problem as last season will once again be the reason for another struggle. Madine is not the answer he's far too slow and Clough is relied upon too much.
