Where fellow sufferers gather to share the pain, longing and unrequited transfer requests that make being a Wanderer what it is...

As the owner of records on the Cherry Red label, I quite liked this:

Cherry Red Records are marking 10 years of sponsoring our stadium by increasing their financial backing in an effort to make AFC Wimbledon more competitive at League One level.

The Dons host Bolton Wanderers this Saturday in AFC Wimbledon’s first home match in the third tier of English football - and there will be no prouder man than Club Vice-President Iain McNay.

However, Iain, who is founder of Cherry Red Records, does not want his beloved Wimbledon to just stand still and he thought long and hard about an idea that would provide extra sponsorship funds for the club.

“This season we wanted to increase our backing quite substantially,” said Iain. “The increase will go to Neal’s playing budget as we all know it’s important that the manager has more funds to help us compete at the higher level.

“We decided that Cherry Red Records would put more money in and then Adam Velasco our Managing Director had the idea to ask our friends and suppliers from other record labels if they would like to put a few bob in too. This is in return for a mention in the programme and to attend games as guests of the club. It’s been well received as we have 18 companies who have said that they will put a bit of money in. They will come to one match a season as part of the deal and get their logo in the programme.

“We’ve managed to make the sponsorship sum even more substantial now, which is great. I’ve been a Wimbledon supporter for well over 40 years and I love the community that AFC Wimbledon is now a part of. However, I also know how important the wage budget is for us to compete. I want us to stay in League One and for us to progress as a club.”

Iain is pictured on the far left above with Cherry Red Records artist Jah Wobble, Neal Ardley and Managing Director Adam Velasco.

AFC Wimbledon’s first association with Cherry Red Records started in the early years after reformation with the company sponsoring the President’s Lounge, before having the stadium named after it.

Iain believes it is great timing for his company to increase backing for the club with Cherry Red Records having enjoyed one of its best years yet since forming in 1978.

“So far this year Cherry Red is 10th in the market share chart for album sales,” added Iain. “The top record labels are the likes of Universal, Sony and Warner Brothers, but for us to be in the top-10 makes it a really good year. We continue to put out quite a lot of diverse records and a lot of catalogue reissues. However, we’ve also releasing new albums by many artists including Marc Almond, The Fall, Dodgy, Hawkwind and Sarah Cracknell.”

The list of record labels helping to support AFC Wimbledon for 2016/17 includes the following: ADA Distribution, Cooking Vinyl Records, Discovery Records, Essential Records, Flicknife Records, Kassner Music, Plastic Head Distribution, Proper Records, Silva Screen Records, Snapper Records, Suburban Records.

Be quite satisfied with a draw here. I'd be over the moon with a win like but I can't see that happening.

So it'll be either 2-2 or 0-0 or 1-1.

Or maybe 3-3.

PP's Prematch Presser, per twitter.
We were disappointed to lose at Blackpool, especially after dominating for large parts. We'll now look forward though. It was important for Jamie Proctor to get his first goal for the club too after being unable to feature much of late.

Results away from home are hard to find, but we need to find the ingredients to get that win away at AFC Wimbledon tomorrow. I've been to Wimbledon before and it's a tight and compact ground. We have to be prepared for a battle down there. We can't wait for the game. The lads are frustrated after Tuesday and it's a blessing that we have a match so quickly after.

Andrew Taylor is a great player who has played at the highest level and we're thrilled to have him on board.

Zach Clough is available for selection tomorrow which is great news for us.

With Alex Finney, we're limited in terms of our numbers and the decision for him to leave was one which suited both parties.

Darren Pratley is having an operation next week. It seems as though there has been ligament damage too though unfortunately. That means that he will probably be missing a little longer than we initially expected - we're looking at around 14 weeks now.

I'm always learning about the players and now getting into competitive games, that will only continue as we work together.

hmmm... bit of a stretch...

unless England U21 is the highest level - I guess, technically you could argue that it was the highest level when he was that age - so, errrr.., yeah - but, I think most people would consider that there are higher levels! :D

According to Transfermarkt he played in the Prem 110 times and the UEFA Cup thrice, although to your point neither is as high a level as Champions League.

Am I being incredibly naïve to think we might win this?

It would be naive to think we will, but not to think we might. I go with hope in my heart rather than expectation in my gut.

But where do I go? Where we meeting? I have fellow Wanderers to corral. Norbiton's not exactly salubrious and I've only ever known one pub round there - the Peel, a rock pub which did a fantastic job of combining a reasonably-staged venue, comfortable snug, subterranean rehearsal rooms and a separate-entrance backroom titty-bar – but I think it's been flattened by the developer's digger.

The Wimbledon website says that we are welcome to join their supporters in the bar at the ground.
http://mobile.afcwimbledon.co.uk/news/a ... 43277.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm told by a STH that the bar is accessible from outside the ground - ie you don't have to go through the turnstiles to reach it. Shall we meet there from 1pm onwards?
