Re: Southend (H) match thread 3/9/16 (3pm)
Clearly some very unrealistic expectations. Anyone describing a half where the opposition score with their only chance and we have 3 excellent chances which somehow we miss and they block as dreadful is either operating on a different scale to me or just exaggerating for some reason. We were clapped off at half time and rightly so. We hadn't played sparkling football but should have been 2-1 up at least.
Dreadful is being played off the park and being 3-0 or worse down in my book. Or not creating a thing and looking totally unlikely to score whilst disorganised at the back at the least.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Blame me.TonyDomingos wrote:Mr Brown's boys are currently 19th having W1, D1, L3. They've scored 5 and conceded 8. Their only win - and 60% of their goals - came at Sheffield Utd where they were 3 up after just 15 mins. Assuming that result was an anomaly, then I ought to be disappointed if we didn't win. But, we're due a poor result at some point and this might be it. 1-1.

Whilst recognising we have many imperfections, I'Lloyd take top of the League all season thanks.

Play like that and we'll generally win the game...one of them days yesterday. Still unbeaten and still top. Mind, we'll play better teams than that.

Also could anyone there yesterday have made any case for keeping Woolery having seen Anderson? Young Keshi is on a different level entirely imho!

Pfffft.
Re: Southend (H) match thread 3/9/16 (3pm)
Well, I can. Keshi is here for a season (and has just signed a long term deal with Palace) and Woolery was our player for keeps. Also, it wasn't an either or - Woolery could've gone out on loan (and was going to before Wigan came in). There, I've made a case.BWFC_Insane wrote:Also could anyone there yesterday have made any case for keeping Woolery having seen Anderson? Young Keshi is on a different level entirely imho!
FWIW I broadly agree with your assessment of the performance (except it wasn't a penalty, Madine just did what Madine does and missed the ball). I thought we were pretty good throughout, but conceding such a poor goal meant we had to try and break them down twice, and we weren't sharp enough in front of goal to do that.
I think Sammy should've been on sooner, lacks end product but he's a bit of a nightmare for defenders. And I didn't see what everyone else in this thread saw with Proctor - don't think he ever looked remotely like he was going to score.

I'm not sure on the incident you mean with Madine, I couldn't see that one to tell. But he was definitely pushed in the back going for a header in the box first half.Tombwfc wrote:Well, I can. I agree otherwise, I thought Proctor was lively but he never really seemed in control and only seemed to want to try and roll defenders.
In terms of the loan vs keeping Woolery, seeing Anderson surely just confirmed that at 21 even if he developed, Woolery was a mile off being even remotely promising. Probably more than a mile at that. So much missing from his game compared to Keshi. And let's face it Keshi is only at a league one club on loan.

No more than any other.BWFC_Insane wrote:It's a competitive league this. The idea that we are that good we will just thump teams is absolute bollocks. Every game is a battle. Every game can go either way.Devon White wrote:You can dominate for the whole game if you want, if you don't score more than the opposition ''its bollocks'' my point is we are at home to southend and we have had the best start in seasons, we have some good new signings and should be up for a home game and 3 points, we are trying to get back to the championship so yes I do want us to win every home game.truewhite15 wrote:Don't talk bollocks. We dominated for 87 minutes, and we've looked the better team against everyone we faced. We're (surprise surprise) not gonna win every game. The Freight Rover was sacrificed so the first team could concentrate on beating Southend but they failed. The 3rd tier fixture list can't hand out fixtures much easier than Southend at home but we couldn't get the job done.Parky will live or die by his results and todays was shite. If we fail to win for the 3rd home game in a row next Saturday the honeymoon period will be over.Devon White wrote:
Thanks tango,

We're unbeaten, top of the league and we've got another home game coming up next week. Nobody gives a toss about the EFL Trophy, particularly in this year's format. Give your head a shake.
Not saying we shouldn't have won today but we aren't getting gimmes. We were possibly lucky to beat Fleetwood and definitely rode out luck against Sheff Utd. Today Southend rode their luck against us. It happens. We were appalling last season and there was a real possibility we'd sink again. Things are miles better than they could have been. As someone rang in the radio to say, if someone just a month or so back had offered him a draw against Southend he'd have snatched their hands off. How short our memories can be sometimes.

We aren't in any other. Though I'd argue there is less between teams in this league than the two above it. Every game is a battle and the quality gap isn't huge.Hoboh wrote:

I'll have a look later but I'm sure you claimed somewhere that the Championship was the hardest league, guess it's a standard change of plan for socialists.BWFC_Insane wrote:We aren't in any other. The championship is the toughest league now because of the spending there plus the general quality across it. What I said about this league is that every game is competitive because there isn't a massive difference between teams.Hoboh wrote:I'll have a look later but I'm sure you claimed somewhere that the Championship was the hardest league, guess it's a standard change of plan for socialists.BWFC_Insane wrote:We aren't in any other. We are unbeaten. We'd not be unbeaten in the championship.
