Mark Came up top: Swindon (H) Sat 14 Jan 3pm

Post by Dave Sutton's barnet » Fri Jan 13, 2017 5:01 pm

22 hours to kick-off, thread time methinks. If you don't get the title reference, ask an old git, there's plenty about the place.

Swindon have been busy in the transfer market this week, signing four loanees, three of them from Chelsea: Islam Feruz, who is a striker, Charlie Colkett, who is a midfielder, and Fankaty Dabo, who is a Krankies ejaculation.

I would like us to win, and so would Parky. Make it so.

Oh - I guess we could kickstart the convo by asking which was your favourite game against Swindon. We've had some good ones.

Loving the Krankies gag

2-1 win I fancy.

Fave? I was on holiday and missed the 7-0 gubbing we gave them that had the Radio Wiltshire (?) Commentator burst into tears, loved the game that the thread title refers to but there can't be any other than that semi final 2nd leg. Burnden nearly exploded when SJM hit the winner. Happy days

Quite enjoyed the two home League Cup games in '89 – entertaining wit-pitters against a higher-division club, somewhat setting the template for the decade to come. Browny's blaster in the first nearly took the Lever End net off; pity we then conceded a minute later.

The 7-0 was mercilessly brilliant, a proper team performance. Utter dismantling.

But yeah, the semi was one of those nights you feel lucky to witness. Agony then ecstasy.

Mixu, mixu give us a wave.

Highly recommended watching.

Best commentary ever. By a mile. Dave Higson was celebrating the first goal before it went in. Then they had no idea who has scored. Priceless.

Think I have this on VHS up in the loft somewhere!

Went to all 4 of those League Cup games. The Mark Came last minute back heeled goal in his first (?) game back after about a year out. Bazza Cowdrill's disallowed 20 yarder at home (damn you, David Reeves. Damn you!) and the disappointment of eventually losing in the longest tie in LC history. I had two 'hospital appointments' which coincided with the away games! Walked out of work and straight into the 'Sally Up Steps' virtually next door! 8)

The 7-0 and LC semi final 2nd leg were both fantastic. The fact that it got us through to our first cup final in my lifetime and was sweet, sweet revenge for our defeat in the same comp 6 years earlier, means it has to be the LC semi. What a comeback and who knew that 'Moose' had a goal like that in him??

Loving the Krankies reference!

I've noticed that Ziggy Seagraves is playing in that video. Was Simon Coleman already injured at this point? I thought it was much later in the season?

And that pitch looks a f*cking disgrace, by the way!

Bit hard to predict anything because Swindon have been down to the tuck shop and bought some new goodies with flavours strange to us...? . Their away record isn't at all good, but we need to forget facts and figures and just get stuck in and win. Tower going great guns with a whole ream of ads for all sorts of football unrelated goods right now, but we should be away in a couple. Brew made, dog walked, deep breathing and knee-bending on the spot done and.....we're away...in a minute....and....

talk of 14,000 or so expected today, Zico's moaning about the cold, flag-wavers departed and..we're off. Minute's respectful appplause for Graham Taylor. Ref is Mark Heywood (Heyward? can never remember) ..Swindon in all red and we go...Immediate chat about Bury from micman then the visitors kick it off.

We press up and gain groun d but they have a throw near their box. We go and......ooohhhh, keeper has to make a good save from Zac's cracking attempt.

We sally, they clear and then win another throw. And...Cranky sounder gets a mention, Gary Madine wins a throw and....Henry sends one in ....and they clear for a throw. Wilson sends one, they grab it and Ben has to wallop one. Back they come and..send a long one in. We clear and are putting them under pressure....says mic man. Wheater does well and we get a throw and Zac feeds Spearing. Henry and Wilson and screeches for hand ball from the mic box. Sheffield are one down as Zac goes and....goalie scrambles it clear.

They sally forth, we clear and...mic lads have a chat. Dabo sets forth and that ends in a quick throw by us. Henry, Thorpe, Wheater, Beevers......Henry again and....crosses but they clear as we hear Bury get an equaliser to Peterboro.
Meanwhile..a bit of Scouse then we go again. Zac.....and....a poor cross after Madine flicked it on to him. Taylor, Spearing, back to Ben and a wallop. Zac, Taylor and....a throw to them. Spearing, Vela....we don't get a free kick and they come forth and win a corner. And....an outswinger cleared for a throw them. They try again and Dabo fumbles it. Zico reckons to wear boots like his you have to be a good player. Sheffield equalise....

Spearing, Vela, ....Taylor and....we get a corner. A gpol now would be very nice and.....and....the big lads come in and....Vela gets blocked by a defender. The visitors ...visit but to no avail. Robins fly but Taylor nods it back to Ben. Madine hassling the keeper but Zico and micman clear it for them before we go again. Good ball in cleared, Vela get hassled again but it all ends in a handball shout. Mic lads chat, Robins come again and....Wheater has to give away a corner. And.....it comes and...Vela clears. A robin is down with a head injury but seems okay. Bury go 2-1 up and we have a chat about injuries then....Spearing feeds Zac who puts a poor one in. Wheat robs the Cranky and sets us off. Vela, Spearing, Wison and.....Madine can't quite manage to beat the defender....we come again, they clear, Henry and....Madine can't reach it.

And.....after some irrelevant score chat...we hear Scunthorpe have scored? We go again, Vela come in and....Taylor's cross hits a defender. Sounds like we're having some ball but we need that goal. Come on lads.... Ben wallops one forth, we hear scores and then.....their keeper has it from Dabo. They come at us and it ends with Madine giving one away. And....they come again and Bury go 3-1 up as Vaghan gets a hat trick. Come on Bolton, get amongst those goals....
