What will we need when we're in the Championship next season?

I think any creative players we get for next season might well be loans from bloated Premiership squads. Lets hope we find the next Tammy Abraham...

Were is the ambition at least picking up hungry young players for free they can be punted on loans cant if they do well.Scottish championship clubs have great record in selling on talent to the championship who go on and thrive they win the league or get promoted Teams like Bolton should follow Sheff Utd example and trust the market up here again.

While I'm all for your export drive, Ally, I don't get this bit. According to my instruments, since arriving at Bramall Lane last June Chris Wilder has signed players from Birmingham, Bury, Oldham, Coventry, Brentford, Oxford, Bury again, Cardiff, Sheffield Wednesday, Bury again again, MK Dons, Burnley and Bradford; he has also loaned players in from Middlesbrough, Wolves, Burnley, Man United and Chesterfield. None of these clubs are particularly Caledonian, and the only son of the Saltire among those players is John Fleck, Tom Thorpe's assailant (see below) who hasn't played north of the border since before the London Olympics.

In fact, of the 77 players (including loanees) the Blades have signed over the last five years, only three have been Scots hired from north of the border: Stefan Scougall, Marc McNulty and Jason Holt. Only Scougall has been anything like a regular this season; McNulty has been loaned out twice and Holt was only ever loaned in for spring/summer 2015.

Dont trust wicki Coutts and Flynn are most definitely Scottish Coutts played Highland league and Flynn was one of the lesser Falkirk players pretty sure I watched Lafferty with Ayr United to

I'm not doubting they're Scottish. I'm saying they weren't signed from Scotland.

Coutts had played 200+ games in England when they signed him; by Flynn I assume you mean Ryan Flynn, who was signed in 2011 and released in 2016; Danny Lafferty did indeed play a handful of games for Ayr in 2010 before a seven-year odyssey around Northern Ireland and northern England (Derry, Burnley, Rotherham, Oldham, Sheffield).

So when you say "trust the market up here" I can only think you actually mean players born in Scotland who've already left long ago.

As I say, I've nothing against signing from Scottish clubs, but Sheffield United do it very rarely.

I generally equate the likes of Celtic with mid table/lower table English Premiership standard, the likes of Rangers and Aberdeen (as things are at the moment) with Championship level, and the lower Scottish Prem / upper Scottish Championship as more L1 level. Certainly Rangers / Celtic apart, the size of the crowds / stadia and presumably the kind of wages that are paid would seem comparable? Am I wrong?

Scotland is the same as its always been with football at club level players still move down south some far to soon for there own good.Exactly like it has always been.

International level we tailed off with the rise of new teams from Soviet and Czechoslovakia Yugoslavia its got harder for us to quality that along with English teams like Leeds Villa Liverpool Everton Man United Nottingham Forrest stopping shopping here and subsequently declining when we stopped reaching finals incidentally to

Twardzik (actualy Czech but signed from Celtic) - free agent now. McKee (signed from Burnley), Gregg Wylde (Rangers), spring to mind. Bloody useless, the three of 'em. (Not because they were Scottish, just because they were useless)
