Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
It was just your assertion that he was leaving a top flight Dutch club, which he isn't. And De Graafschap are hardly Ajax now, are they?!ally.morrison wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2017 12:04 pmOne man don't make a team Driver is a better player than McGinn who your linked with its why he has been good enough to play outside of the UK
Are you sure the real reason that he's been playing for the Dutch equivalent of Berwick Rangers isn't actually because he couldn't find a British club?

Fair point. Leicester picked up Riyad Mahrez from a mid-table Ligue 2 team. But one presumes their scouts are a bit pickier than our AllyDr Hotdog wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2017 12:52 pmWhen Abdou Faye came to BWFC he'd played the whole season for Istres who were relegated from Ligue 1.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2017 10:52 amThe newly relegated De Graafschap? Erfhan Oztuma linked
Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
He appears to be quite highly rated by people within football, and scored with a great effort against us but, and I repeat, we are 1) under a transfer embargo and, as such, not allowed to pay a transfer fee, and 2) absolutely brassic and unable to afford him even if we were.
It's possible that neither of these will be the case in a few months' time, but whilst they still are it's a non-starter.

Reeves is lapsing out of contract; MK Dons have offered him one but he's yet to sign.
Oztumer is a good player but has a year on his contract so would cost, even if we were allowed to sign contracted players. Then again, this rumour comes from HITC so you could probably eat a can of alphabetti spaghetti and shit a more accurate story.

He means Erhun Oztumer, the wee fella who ran the game at the Bescot and scored from downtown at the Macbok.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2017 9:01 pmI've just put Erfhan Oztuma into Google and it's never heard of him

Yeah, but that's a proper football league. Gerald Cid played in it FFS.Dr Hotdog wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2017 12:52 pmWhen Abdou Faye came to BWFC he'd played the whole season for Istres who were relegated from Ligue 1.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2017 10:52 amThe newly relegated De Graafschap? It seems we're in for Niall McGinn from Aberdeen.

I can think of at least one of our newer members who will be happy about that.

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Ticks the six-foot box. 50 caps for NI. Key player for Aberdeen. Turns 30 in July. Gordon Strachan took him to Celtic in 2009 but McGinn’s compatriot Neil Lennon lost faith in him and sent him to third-tier Brentford for the 2011/12 season.
Over his career he’s split his time between the flanks, spending more time on the left but no stranger to the right and has also played up top, second striker, No.10. Career totals 329 games, 85 goals, 61 assists; of these, 206/62/44 have come in the Scottish top flight. He was less productive at Brentford (41/5/4), where he was more often played on the right and must have wondered where his career was going, but has really found his feet since at Pittodrie.

And he's a winger.
Let's compare that to Madine's 63 goals in 237 appearances as a centre forward. Hmmm.

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
To be consistent though, Bruce, 62 of McGinn's have come in what you've frequently termed a pub league (plus seven more in the Scottish Cups / League Cup). Six were before that in the League of Ireland, and five were in Europa League qualifiers against Daugava Riga, Groningen, Shkendija Tetovo (Macedonia) and CS Fola Esch (Luxembourg). Which leaves the five he scored in our third tier.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2017 11:27 amAnd he's a winger.

I've no idea how many Madine might have scored in Scotland...

Whereas Madine's have all come in Serie A, of course. And as I mentioned - McGinn's a winger.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2017 11:47 amTo be consistent though, Bruce, 62 of McGinn's have come in what you've frequently termed a pub league (plus seven more in the Scottish Cups / League Cup).
