Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
I do like the way he imitates a telegraph.
No indication AFAIK that the Atkinson twins have a long-lost Caledonian brother in Telfer. I'm guessing it's a joke about the teamsheet at FCUM being "Turner, Lonsdale, Trialist, Trialist, Trialist, Trialist, Trialist, Trialist, Hall, Trialist, Trialist."

I think re-reading and adding my own punctuation, you'd get "Bolton could sign three of the trialists. Brothers who have been playing and working on Bruce and Lowe. ATB"
Bolton want Rob Atkinson, promising centre half at Basingstoke and twin brother Michael. Also Charlie Telfer, midfield...

Think the Trialist Brothers is a gag.
Made confusing by the fact we are linked with actual brothers (twins in fact).
Clear?

All those players Nixon is talking about would be signings for the u23s. Lee Anderson said this a while ago.
Lee Anderson has just intimated we have signed two players, to be announced tomorrow morning. I assume the West Ham pair on loan till January.

Yeay. A footballer (hopefully) Bolton have offered a contract to Júlio Baptista who is a free agent after release from Orlando City. (Source: Sun Sport)

Yeah, but with a name like Julio Baptista, clearly nothing could possibly go wrong.

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
If we sign Baptista I'll run naked round the town square. Ok I won't. But I'm fairly sure it is a nonsense story. Can't see how a 36 year old Brazilian, most recently playing in "soccer sixes" on Sky fits into Parky's team and plans.
Would be the most "Allardyce" of all signings ever I guess....
Mind IF he was fit, I think he's the sort who could add something for the last 20 minutes off the bench...still can't imagine Parky fancying carrying a 36 year old Brazilian looking for a last hurrah in his limited squad.

"Adding something off the bench" currently appears to be the role assigned to Armstrong and, if we're 3-5-2, Amoebi. Then there's Buckley...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2017 10:54 amMind IF he was fit, I think he's the sort who could add something for the last 20 minutes off the bench...still can't imagine Parky fancying carrying a 36 year old Brazilian looking for a last hurrah in his limited squad.
IIRC Baptista could play up front or in midfield. I doubt he's got the legs to do the latter, especially in Parky's energetic system. Maybe he's a big-lad target man for later in the game, but... it really doesn't seem like either a good fit or a priority. Yes, our options are scarce, and I could maybe see it if we get to the window-end still in embargo and with nobody else available, but I'd be very surprised if it happens this week. Maybe not surprised enough to get my knob out in public though. I can't imagine what kind of surprise would elicit that response.
Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Can't see it either. I read that the Andersons know him well so probably some clickbaiter putting 2 and 2 together.
Will happily join the town hall nob waving brigade if he doesn't. Or if he does to be honest.

Lee Anderson trailing an announcement "2pm on official site". Obviously he doesn't say what for.
Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Burke and Cullen in. As confirmed by the hammers.

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Two good signings, just need a left back and another striker and I think we'll be set.
Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
I’ve got a really good feeling about them as well. I know that we should always take the opinions of other supporters with a pinch of salt, but there does seem to be a unanimous verdict among them that they’ll do well for us.
By my reckoning, we’re now able to put together a pretty competitive starting eleven regardless of which formation we play. We’re going to be more reliant than ever on Nick Allenby’s ability to keep them all fit though.

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Well, not as much as last season. Much more depth now.
If for argument's sake this is the (3-5-2) XI we play v Leeds:
Howard; Dervite, Wheater, Beevers; Little, Karacan, Vela, Pratley, A Taylor; Le Fondre, Madine.
...then we'll have the following nine competing for the bench spaces:
Alnwick, Darby, Burke, Cullen, C.Taylor, Morais, Ameobi, Buckley, Armstrong
...which isn't far off a decent senior XI.
Interesting to read Parky's post-Stoke quote (per official site):
Wouldn't surprise me if it's a strong team at Crewe, perhaps with one or two kids to fill it out (Cole, Brockbank, Earing, Hall, White) and judicious subs, bearing in mind a Saturday trip to Millwall in which we should be targeting three points. Competition for places is no bad thing. It’s hugely important that the lads get those minutes in their legs and of course, the ones who didn’t play will be disappointed, but we’ve got a game coming up on Tuesday where they could feature. In the first week of the season though, we go Sunday-Wednesday-Saturday, so everyone will play in that three-game period. With that in mind, that first week is almost like an addition to pre-season and once we get right into the heart of the campaign, everybody is right up to speed.

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
You missed Derik off that reserve eleven DSB.
I am very happy with the Cullen and Burke signings. They add youth and depth to the squad, and judging by the musings of Bradford fans, quality. Parky has managed them before and knows them so there should be no settling in issues. Hopefully the "informal arrangement" to extend the loan in January for the rest of the season is fairly binding assuming no long term injuries. These kind of signings (Premier league level talent but still developing) are the ones that give teams a chance to surpass expectations. We might just catch them at a stage of their development where they improve quickly and play at a higher level than expected and elevate the level of the whole team. Lets hope so anyway...

Ah yes. And Chris Taylor, initially.
Agree on Burke & Cullen. Promising signings indeed.
