I don't think he's very good. While we've got 23 keeping him makes sense but I'm hoping our plan is to be able to have then 23 someone in the nearish future!

Derik is versatile cover. He's not brilliant, but offers a good squad option.
True, but I still think he'd bin him given half a chance.
He's also one of the last on a Lennon/Garty contract.

I agree (a bit), but I still maintain that because hes only "versatile cover" he'll be off in the summer

Derik is Twatdick pt 2. All Social Media and no balls. Feck him off ASAP. I've seen stronger snooker players.

Trying to move on...

BN reports that PP "still wants to add at least one new face to his squad", that "Chris Taylor could be the man to make way in the quota, and that the Whites have already turned down one bid for the midfielder’s services from an un-named League One club" and that "Parkinson wants to add to his options out wide". PP:
I think the chairman has been busy with the BluMarble situation, which is entirely understandable. He’s trying to resolve things behind the scenes so it’s been a case of letting him get on with things and wait until we’ve got the weekend out of the way before seeing where we are with the squad. I’d hope by Monday or Tuesday we should know more and then we can decide what we can and can’t do with the squad.
Interesting PP quote from the previous day's BN, too:
In the two shapes we’d planned to work on, Sammy (Ameobi) and (Josh) Vela are very important to the system so them being out has derailed us a little bit. Fil (Morais) can also play in the wide areas and he’s only just coming back, so the only real option we’ve had is to play three at the back. We understand people are looking at it, and maybe the dynamics of the players involved didn’t look right. We didn’t threaten enough against Derby. So we’re left looking at changing the shape a little bit, or the personnel within it – but we’re aware of the issue.
Seems 4-2-3-1 (or 4-5-1, if we're defending) is very much in mind. It would make sense to stop asking limited defenders (centrally and wide) to stop trying to fluidly switch between two positions and concentrate on doing one thing well. Obviously we miss Vela's ability to do the same further forward, and it's perhaps intriguing that PP played much of the second half with Arma and ALF as the "wide" players, making it arguably a 4-3-3 and giving the lie to the idea that Parky is a defensive manager. He's safety-first, but he's not stubborn: he's drafted in Morais on the right, tried Buckley as the 'Vela" and dropped ALF for Arma, as well as changing round his back three even if he hasn't dropped it.

The question is who are the 2 in the 4-2-3-1? Can Derik be trusted if he has a narrow set of responsibilities? Could we profitably use Pratley's energy in scurrying round tidying up rather than expecting him to have the necessary attacking gumption further forward? Karacan brings energy and commitment, although he might have to temper his tendency to get forward (something he was BN-quoted as saying PP had encouraged in the last couple of games as we sought more attacking oomph: "“The gaffer has said we need to be more of a threat and told me to push on, so it was nice to get on the end of that cross [against Sheff Weds]"). Then there's Cullen, who's here until January pretty much whether we like it or not: sending him back, which might be knee-jerk anyway, would surely piss off West Ham who we need to keep sweet considering they're lending us players and we need friends.

I would hope we have the players there but the 3-5-2 that just about worked last season needs to go, and whoever plays in it we need to make the 4-2-3-1 work. It's almost certainly an easier formation to play if you're not as good as the opposition, and we have an international break in which to work on it, while we wonder if any reinforcements are going to be allowed given the dogshit catfight for ownership.

Maybe the content of these rumours might be upsetting to some...

The HITC website is pretty notoriously loose with its rumours, and that might well be where LOV picked this up from, so it is more likely than not that there is nothing to all of this. Personally I think the assessment of LOV that we would get £250,000-£300,000 is ludicrous. If Preston get £8m from selling Hugill we should be able to get £2m-£3m minimum, just due to market forces. Whether that is good business for us in our current predicament is another question....

Ludicrous is right. I'd expect us to hold out for anything upwards of £2m in today's market.

If we sell him we've given up and accepted relegation. Given we'd be only able to spend £4500 a week on a replacement. In these circumstances he's irreplaceable.

If they sell him, then Ken et al have lost my support.

Even if he was the last target man on earth, turning down anything beyond a million would be ludicrous.

Nope, just unwilling to click on a hate filled website designed for cretins and line the pockets of the wankers that 'create' it.

Would be accepting relegation. Giving up. Waving the white flag. Can't spend that money. Can't replace him.

He's one of the few that has looked capable at this level so far. Sell him and we'd not be able to bring in anyone half as good.

Normally I would see the point but he's easily one of our better players now and we can't/won't be able to replace him. Wilbraham as our main striker would add to the comedy though.

In ordinary circumstances I'd agree, but given we can't replace him he has to stay.
