2017/18 Fixtures

Post by Harry Genshaw » Tue Jun 20, 2017 8:22 am

Out tomorrow. Who do you fancy first up? Who to avoid?

For one reason or another, Darlington aside, I haven't seen us play in the North East yet so either Sunderland or Boro away for me.

I had a feeling it could be Sunderland away or at home.

Deffo up for more away matches this time out. I've done Boro away - it's dreadful.

Boro away was always a favourite of mine, usually a reasonable number and always a good drink up! dunno whether they still have that floating strip club near the ground any more?

Might sound like stating the obvious but I'd like a match we can win, or at least avoid defeat. The opening-day result can set the tone, and the following midweek we're on a hiding-to-nothing trip to Crewe where we'll presumably be picking the fringe players of a squad that won't exactly be deep anyway.

Get the relegated teams in early whilst they are still on a downer!

Forest won 2 away last season - I'll have them at home please.

Nah. Lets have a big one like Sunderland at home. We might lose but it will give us a taste of things to come and whet the appetite for some big crowds at the Macron.

I get that a good start is important but equally as said above it might be best to play one of the big guns before they get going (see Sheff Utd last season).

Sunderland are a right mess to be fair. I think they will struggle this year. Boro should be stable enough to challenge, hull are an odd one. Villa, Sheff Weds, Reading and Derby you would expect to be strong...Leeds who knows!

It'll be either Derby at home, or Sheff Yonited away..

Happy with either of those. Imagine if we went to Sheff Utd and won?

As an aside, I see that Celtic could be due to play at Linfield during marching season, so that's going to end well

Strangely enough, as per a couple of posters above, I thought we might get Sunderland at home first game

Haven't we asked the league to organise the first couple of fixtures as away games due to the closure of Bolton station?
