As someone who thinks he's good I hope we never find out but I'm looking forward to another chance to convince people who think he's bad that he's actually v good.

Apols if I've missed it, but do we have any reliable evidence that PP is speaking to Reading?

Define reliable, Tone. The Reading Chronicle sports editor seems to be going with it.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 8:03 pmApols if I've missed it, but do we have any reliable evidence that PP is speaking to Reading?

The Chronicle understands Reading held brief talks with Parkinson earlier this year before Clement was appointed as Jaap Stam’s replacement in March.
Royals chief executive Nigel Howe is believed to have spoken with the Trotters boss in the past few days and is hopeful of naming the next permanent manager before Saturday’s trip to Rotherham.
And since then...

Interestingly:
Reading, though, may be able to overcome the problems [ie us not having a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of] by increasing their offer of compensation to soften the blow.
It could turn into an attractive offer for the Lancashire club who would likely welcome the chance to reduce their wage bill in the midst of their well-publicised cash-flow problems.

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?
Thanks, DSB. That's reliable enough for me.
Implies Kenneth is allowing an approach: perhaps the prospect of compo plus savings while a replacement is found have influenced his tactics.

If Reading wait beyond Friday can’t Parky and staff walk anyway?

1. Not sure the same rules apply to staff as playersofficer_dibble wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 8:18 amIf Reading wait beyond Friday can’t Parky and staff walk anyway?
2. Don’t think Parky would do that, he’s too honourable (note the Berkshire scribe saying the major block to him leaving is him not wanting to “jump ship”)

Apart from Ameobi, no doubt Parky will again make a few more changes to the team that gave a gallant effort at Norwich. It seems as if he doesn't know his best after all this time. The sooner this guy leaves the better.

He's just named an unnamed side two weeks in a row. Before that he was changing losing sides - to try and find a formula for results. Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't......Athertonian wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 9:22 amApart from Ameobi, no doubt Parky will again make a few more changes to the team that gave a gallant effort at Norwich. Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?
Speaking of Parky walking (personally, I hope he doesn't because money, or lack of it, has been his biggest challenge here and we still have none), it's to be hoped he doesn't take any players with him if he does. I reckon any loyalty at The Unibol is to him and not the club or owner.

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?
The players and staff seem to have been paid. According to yesterday's Reading Chronicle, this removes one block to Parky's departure: he didn't want to jump ship when the crew were going hungry.
However, Royals appear to be casting about a bit. Iles thinks they're talking to one of them there forriners, while Wycombe's Gareth Ainsworth has made the sort of "I'm flattered but I have a job to do here" noises one expects in these instances.

He won’t end up there - they are just putting stories out to try and destabilise us. Newsflash, we can do that to ourselves thanks!

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?
I think he needs the rest of the season off to regain his composure actually and decide if big club football is no longer for him, maybe a national manager, more time with the family and less pressure.
Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?
Mourinho's ego won't allow him to disappear from the major leagues. He'll be back soon enough to prove he's still the best.

If he rocked up at ours I don't care how much of a cnut he is, so long as he did it on Parkinson's wages I'd swap the fxckers instantly...Enoch wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 11:08 pmI agree.Jugs nearly wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 10:01 pmMourinho's ego won't allow him to disappear from the major leagues. He has reached the megson and freedman level of stubborn dickheadness now. Go!
Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?
Yes he should be sacked.
Or he should just walk.
Either way, it's time to go.

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?
No. We started to show an ability to pick up home points. If we can somehow maintain that we'll stand a very small chance. However, if/when the player sales start this month we'll see what we are left with.
Parky is literally the only bloke capable of holding this together. Though I suspect deep down he'd love the sack.
