Genuine question, Max Clayton and Jay Spearing both went to Blackpool. Have either made good there? Just wondering after seeing Clayton's name on an old squad list.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017%E2%8 ... .C._season

Would seem not. Spearing joined on the 4th October, has played 9 out of the 10 league games since then, and Blackpool have W2 D3 L5 of them. He also played in their 2-1 defeat at Boreham Wood in the first round of the FA Cup.

Clayton has barely played, with just two substitute appearances in the league all season, and one goal from three games in the Checkatrade trophy.
Cheers Bristol. Not world beaters too good for Bolton then. I had great hopes for Clayton back a ways.
Clearest example yet of how our fans often overrate our own players. Spearing was meant to be too good for league one, when reality is he probably found his level or thereabouts.
He's a defensive midfielder playing for a mediocre, newly promoted side. What are you expecting from him?

Swap him and Karl Henry and neither team will be noticeably better or worse.
Henry was wanted by a championship side. By more than one. Spearing wasn't.

Spearing just isn't that good. Clayton is probably league two at best.
How the fxck you got to the conclusion that us fans (you excluded of course, because you're a fxckin' genius) often overrate our own players is beyond me. I can also point out posts where I berated the then management for signing him on, because a lot of us didn't rate him at all.

It's a bit surprising the number of players who seemed to fade away once they left us. Liam Feeney prompted that thougtht before I asked about Spearing and Clayton...and Marvin Sordell before that (mind you, he was never exactly scintilating for us). Zac Clough isn't exactly a headline maker either at the moment. To claim Spearing as not that good is a different song than the one some were singing not long back when we wnted him to re-sign.

Have we moved on a bit.
last 15 games - 23 points
A repeat of that should see us OK with a couple of weeks to spare.
That would be tough to keep going, but at least we have a fighting chance now
What goes around may still come around

I do hope we can keep this up, although I worry we may have to show more of the tactical fluidity PP has demonstrated in the last couple of games. We still need a Plan B (and the ability to switch to it quickly, perhaps mid-match) because we need to face again a few teams we may have surprised the first time; Warnock will have some new ideas when we go to Cardiff, Norwich might give us a tougher game on their patch, as should Wednesday and Barnsley. History is littered with teams who were found out in the second half of the season - astonishing as it may seem, on Christmas Day 1998 the Premier League was topped by John Gregory's Aston Villa, who finished sixth.

I noticed while watching the Hull highlights through my fingers that from Dec 1 to Jan 1 Hull got 19 points, more than doubling what they'd collected from August to November. Things change. Sadly, I can't imagine us doing anything similar until there are much bigger changes - perhaps the manager but more pertinently the ownership.

With greater respect sir, it was a little tongue in cheek. (although not totally - I have been saying for a while now that if we stick with Mr Parkinson we are on a road to nowhere).
:D No insult intended, Squire. Just now I'm quite happy to be on a road to nowhere just so long as we've stopped going backwards
 We have been in reverse for the last 3 months

Indeed.

I was admittedly one of those screaming for his head towards the end of last season, & equally my opinion has never really shifted
(though could objectively admire him for this seasons start)
- it went too far, couldn't go back to 'how it was' -- has all the hallmarks of a 'relationship' doesn't it -- "it's not you Parky (as such)".

Yet can't help feeling somewhat sorry for the duff hand he's obviously been dealt, and that at core he's a decent bloke.

Oh but Kenneth.
Kenneth, Kenneth, Kenneth.

Yeah, this, really. And like a doomed relationship, it doesn't have to end in mutual hatred. Rather than having to scream abuse, I'd like to thank him for what he's done and wish him the best, as long as it doesn't affect me and my next 'partner'...

Yep, agreed.

We all know he's going nowhere though - we're all trapped in this toxic relationship (with 'you know who' as enabler).
I mean, when was the last time you heard of a manager resigning (for the sake of the club)?
I'll also wager that, as things stand, Parky figures he's doing us a massive favour by staying.

Whatever happened with Reading btw (sorry, been a bit out of the loop)?

They appointed some peripatetic Portugueezer who's had half a dozen jobs in the last five years, mainly in Arabia. It's all a bit Barnsley this time last year and for obvious reasons I hope it's just as successful.

Apparently, Saturday's paggering took us to 15 wins from 72 matches. I'm not sure it's possible to match even that at the moment, but with 20 games left, one win in 5 and a couple of draws thrown in, doesn't get us to 40 points. We're doomed unless something changes.

Only 2 things can change in the short term, the squad or the manager and his tactics. The squad will arguably be weaker by the end of the month, not stronger, particularly if our registrations remain suspended. Ken isn't going to be spending any more money or investing at all if he can't even pay the wages as they stand. The only thing that can change therefore, is the manager. It's the only chance of survival we have now.

If someone can come in and get us a point per game between now and the end of the season, we might, just might stay in the Championship.......if administration doesn't come first.

A year ago there were two, maybe three of us. Now virtually everyone wants rid. Good enough reason to crow. I reckon. 8)

The problem is not the manager,

I met with an established player (who is currently playing in the championship who also has premiership experience.) yesterday who was offered a contract by Bolton.

He liked the club and the reason he chose the other club was our Chairman, I won't repeat the phrase he used to describe him on an open forum. That is the cancer at the heart of BWFC at the moment until that changes we will not attract players our managers.
