Don't know how likely these are but are apparently available.
Any thoughts?

Agree. That's the three I'd prioritise. We need at least another mid because O'Neill is only on a contract to Jan.boltonboris wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 1:27 pmI still think we need another midfielder. 45 more games of high intensity and we can't rely on 3 or 4. If an injury hits and we've got 5 games in 14 days, we'll feel it
Left Back with pace is a must, as is a back up keeper. I think those 3 tied up would make me feel a bit more comfortable
I don't get why there has been no talk about mids from the powers that be. They've been weirdly negligent.
Murphy came out of the blue and just fell into their laps.
Imagine if he hadn't? What would our lineup have been on Saturday? Ozzy starting? Us losing.

Pat Bauer keeping his options open - including Bolton.
Didn't someone deny we were in for him?

We have no pace in our squad, which is really worrying for me. I would hope and think that Parky/Anderson/whoever are monitoring loan and permanent signings who will address this issue.

Wildschut? He’s lightning.
Magennis is also quick. Don’t have much pace at the back that is true.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
By Championship standards I think we aren't too bad now. In addition to Wildschut and Magennis, Donaldson and Olkowski have pace. Our midfield now isn't slow by Championship standards. Ameobi, Buckley aren't super fast, but aren't slow either. The only place where I would say we need more pace is really left back. Taylor is clever with his positioning, but is still vulnerable to quick wingers, and that is where teams are most likely to have pace. Wheavers are slow but that isn't going to change, teams can still be successful with slow central defenders. Leicester won the Premiership with Huth and Morgan as their central defenders.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 6:23 pmWildschut? He’s lightning.

As I recall, we denied making a bid. We asked, in passing, how much Charlton wanted for the lad. Once we'd finished laughing we moved on.mullayo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 5:38 pmhttp://the72.co.uk/112831/good-news-bla ... statement/

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
That's very true, but they relied on having insane pace and creativity in the final third with Vardy and Mahrez. They then had that quarterback type mid and were allowed 12 players on the pitch instead of 11, until they sold the Kante twins to Chelsea. They could knock the ball forward on the counter and basically let the attacking 4 do their thing at times. We don't have that luxury at the minute, I wouldn't think.bristol_Wanderer3 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 6:38 pmLeicester won the Premiership with Huth and Morgan as their central defenders.
I'm looking forward to seeing how we play at home. I really hope we've got a way of avoiding being countered.
*edit* One thing here, the central defenders we are linked to don't seem to inject much pace. We seem to just be looking for younger versions of what we have. Presumably, PP has a plan.

Largely semantics, but I don't think Ken actually totally ruled out a future bid. That said, if they want more than the £300k Blackburn offer I think it's safe to say we're out of the running now.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 8:23 pmAs I recall, we denied making a bid. By the way, could Bowyer have got any more mentions of "Pat" into those quotes if he'd tried?!?
“Pat is not going, The owner told Blackburn and Bolton what he wants for Pat and they are not going to pay what we are asking.
“Pat knows that. Pat has been offered a new deal and he is thinking about that at the moment.
“But on Saturday I had an email from the owner saying that Pat is staying. He said that Pat is a massive part of our defence and we need to keep him because he improves our chances of promotion.”

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
More seriously, you are right about not going in with an offer at close to the 2mil they reported want for him. Quite right too, given our finances and the fact he's a League One defender with 12 months on his deal. Charlton apparently think he'll sign a new deal if they look like getting promoted; but they also view him as a potential Premier League player.
Blackburn have reportedly got close to 1mil with their latest offer. He'll probably end up there by close of business.

Roland Duchatelet appears to be determined to drive Charlton fans into the pit of despair, so expect what is considered a low bid to succeed. I think we have finished our recruitment in central defence, so I don't expect it to be us.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 9:57 pmMore seriously, you are right about not going in with an offer at close to the 2mil they reported want for him. I think he is waiting till there is seven of them left before selling the club! Or maybe he will see the reduction in intensity in the protests as a message to stay on?GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 10:13 pmI feel sorry for all 7 of them.bristol_Wanderer3 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 10:06 pmRoland Duchatelet appears to be determined to drive Charlton fans into the pit of despair

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Again, probably right on us having finished in central defence. I hope not, as I really feel like someone with pace in there could revolutionise this side - but we're better off than most sides at this level, I suppose. All the same kind of player, though. If it doesn't work, we can only rearrange the deckchairs and not really right the ship.
Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Trent Sainsbury now available on a free. Would fit the bill for a speedy centre back with a pass on him, and revolutionise our side.
QPR were the front runners, but looks like he's having a medical at PSV, (or as Steve McLaren would say - Pee Essssshhhh Vee).
At 26, he'd sell-on for a mega profit.

He'd be one hell of a signing, but realism sets in. If the Dutch champions want him, then not a hope in seven hells.jonnybwfc wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 10:41 pmTrent Sainsbury now available on a free. Would fit the bill for a speedy centre back with a pass on him, and revolutionise our side.

Having seen Hull's central defence tonight, we are certainly not the worst there in this league!
