Clough Jnr didn't appreciate it at all. He turned his phone off for the entire day. :D

He's clearly his father's son then. I imagine that's exactly the sort of manoeuvre Brian would pull if he was about in this day and age!

Regarding, Doige all the signs are wrong, league 2 etc., but his highlights look good (doesn't everyone's?). He does seem to have all the attributes you'd want, quick, powerful, great leaps for headers, also KA and parky are no fools, they're not likely to splash the only money we've spent in years on a poor player. Can't wait to see how good he is. Could he play left wing instead of Wildschut/Buckly? I wouldn't be dropping McGennis anytime soon, 442 seems unlikely.

On a point of order.

Although DSB has clearly initiated one of the most productive transfer threads in recent seasons, now that the window has SLAMMED shut, are we obliged to close the thread and start a new one for January?

We'll see. Signs are that Boyce was the first choice all day.

Parky said Doidge was his first choice. As did Ken.

We wanted to sign 2 and Boyce was the second.

But I don't believe Parky is a liar. After the Preston game he said he was asked on Thursday if he could only have one of the three which he would most want and he said "me and my staff wanted Christian as first priority - he's been on the list a while".

Just seems odd that we made 'several' bids for Boyce - including one that was around a mill - AND a £900,000 offer for Doige.

Hmm, I don't think he's a "liar" as such, but I also don't think he's going to come out and publicly describe his new striker as anything other than first choice all along.

He didn't have to say anything. Could just say "we're really pleased to get him" etc etc...

To specifically and unprompted say he was their "first choice" suggests to me that we take that at face value! Especially considering the significant financial outlay.

Doidge looks a very similar player to Wyke, so I can well believe he was one Parky had high on his list. With the way his career has gone, working his way up and even dropping out of the game for a while, you'd like him to make it. It's a good story.

So when did we last have a TW better than this one?

We started off with an XI that would've imho finished bottom by 20 points minimum, to having two XI's of Championship standard, and a best XI that looks pretty decent. I score it 9.5/10. DSB to start all TW threads from now on :)

Indeed. As long as the next one isn't titled Speak and Sell (which, I suspect, is a pun only DSB and I will share!).

Parkys first, before the league 1 season, was pretty good I'll have you know.

Hmm. Chris Taylor, Lewis Buxton, Keshi Anderson, Jamie Proctor...

Not sure it was all that stellar, Beevers and Taylor aside. Mind not for one second blaming PP. Club was a mess and he was under embargo shopping in the absolute bargain basement - even then Ken et al only managed to register the new signings a few hours before the season kicked off!

Glad to have contributed my small part, missus.

A good window. Maybe by the next one, we might already have been getting signatures - on contract extensions. I like the churn as long as it works in our favour - certainly keeps it busy on threads like this - but at some point we need to tie the better players down for longer, either for stability or finance through resale.

Especially now we have a base. I think everyone agrees this is a far more robust, and competent championship squad.

We're at the point whereby if we could add 2 players with genuine quality (who knows Doidge MIGHT be one) we could seriously think about a dart at the play offs. Likelihood is we'll be those 2 short of that and missing genuine quality matters a lot.

However, its night and day compared to what we had last season. Night and day.
