Darth Vader starred for Wigan on the weekend - I watched the highlights he really did.
They're calling him "the best in world football".
Gutting.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
No point crying over spilt milk. Would have been a good signing for a season, but if we can find a decent player who we can build on over a few years then it may stand us in better stead in the long term. It was a risk we took and now we have to move on.mullayo wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 2:58 amhttps://everton.vitalfootball.co.uk/eve ... -football/

Robinson's pace, in combination with Wildschut, would have been an incredible weapon down the left. Alas.

Rumours in the North East have us looking at Connor Ripley on a permanent deal for not much money.

This goalkeeper thing looks like it might be one of those where we are linked to twenty players and then sign someone who was never mentioned.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Ripley, believe it or not, has allowed 11 goals in only 4 Championship level games.
2.75 per game.
Appalling really.
Somehow he had 36 SCOTTISH (ta Jmjhb) Premier League games and conceded 62 at 1.72 per.
Alnwick last year (and career) is steady about 1.36 per and we almost got relegated.
David Stockdale (32) 272 Champ game for 232 goals at 1.19 per
Stephen Henderson (30) 121 Champ games for 164 goals at 1.35 per
Thomas Kuszack (36) 199 Champ games for 212 goals at 1.07 per
Boaz Myhill (35)176 Champ games for 212 goals at 1.20 per

You can skew anything with stats. I assume you mean Scottish Premier League.
I remember him doing well for Oldham a couple of seasons back.

Yeah, analysis of the career-long stats of established players with more than a hundred games at the same level cant really compare to an avid Bolton supporter's vague recollections of a player "doing well for Oldham a couple of seasons back".

And Wildschut, Wigan's top target and former player did.
Shame we missed out on him but there are plenty of other options out there.

Agreed. It's a shame we missed out on him, but there are better loan options out there.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 8:39 amHe didn't score.mullayo wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 2:58 amhttps://everton.vitalfootball.co.uk/eve ... -football/

I mean, you joke, but I'd take anyone's vague reckon over your "200 soccer ball games in the D zone as TS with only 0.12 key kicks before the buzzer" business.

Personally think he's made a mistake. He would have got game time here, with a manager who could improve him.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 9:07 amCould turn out another "Wish I'd stayed at Bolton" player.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 8:39 amHe didn't score. And Wildschut, Wigan's top target and former player did. His comments about Cook "letting him play how he wants" were telling. If Robinson ever wants to be a premiership player he has to improve his defensive ability. And Parky would have been perfect to help him.
When I heard his interview I felt we had a lucky escape. Another lad looking for a quick route to glory rather than being prepared to graft for it.

So you have a problem with me applying basic maths to actual facts?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 9:13 am"He was on their roster...." is what did it for me!Prufrock wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 9:12 amI mean, you joke, but I'd take anyone's vague reckon over your "200 soccer ball games in the D zone as TS with only 0.12 key kicks before the buzzer" business.
You'd rather rely on a random opinion that half the time you'd probably argue against?
Must be getting too old for the naked morris dancing around Stonehenge.
Ripley has appalling stats it's simple to see. I just compared him to a bunch of other candidates.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Simply comparing the number of goals conceded bya keeper is reductive and not helpful.

Oh look one of the Forest fire sale strikers I postulated:
Apostolos Vellios could be on his way to Bolton.

Scouting report for Prufrock and BWFC_Insane:
A----------s V------s plays for ---- ------ club and his position is -----. He is ---- years old and ---ft--in tall. He has scored -- goals in --- Championship games and should cost ---GBP or ---- US dollars.
In depth analysis: My Greek mate reckons he's great, well wasn't bad but he's not really Greek, just hairy and doesn't really watch soccerball unless there's nothing else on.
