Sizzle or fizzle in the drizzle in Brizzle? - 12/1/2019 - 3pm

Post by bristol_Wanderer3 » Fri Jan 11, 2019 8:36 am

This fixture always seems to let when we are at our lowest ebb. Last season we had just been hammered at home by Brentford and we were all wondering whether we would get 10 points for the season. 2016 we were hammered 6-0 under the management of Jimmy Phillips with the club still on life support. And now, with Kenneth Trump staring at himself in the mirror, whilst Rome burns.

I will be there to see the likely debacle. :hang:

Yeah, 4-0 or similar I think. Hopefully they will take a bit more mercy on us than the bang average Hull:

Meanwhile, in a dipladated old charabanc - though not horse drawn it must be stated- specially hired at great expense by some chap up north whose name I forget) a group of hardy warriors head south west to battle on a foreign field b eside the Avon with some old salts from Bristol, a city with a far more populous collection of famous folk than even Peter Kay, Sam Crompton and Fred Dibnah.( Cary Grant, no less, and Isambard Kingdom Brunel spent a fair whack of time building bridges and stuff down there). Anyway, that's where we're at tomorrow and, since they are sitting comfortably up the chart with sixteen points more than the mighty Whites, it might take a bit of a helping hand from Lady Luck (capitals out of respect) to make our trip a happy one.

Our reluctant heroes, ever feeling sorry for teams and thus letting them win, are even struggling number wise to field our best gladiators since a couple are sick-noted, a few checking their mortgage details with worried brows, and at least two gone home to mother (no, they didn't take the ball thankfully...) as they check into the local Y.M.C.A, a place not normally used to three hundred pound trainers, Ralph Lauren handbags and mobile satellite comunication systems.

Despite all that, we can still give forth with a "COME ON YOU WHITES" and look hopefully to attaining three points. Stranger things have happened you know.........(though not a lot) :oyea: :oyea:

Put the drink down, Enoch, it's time for bed.

I'm going for 3-0 loss.

Not away at Bristol when the 2 are from the 3 of Hall, Donaldson and Magennis it wouldn’t.

Two of those wouldn’t even get a game for most league one sides.

I'm not seeing us as having much choice Dibs. We're almost bound to spend the first 45 on damage limitation and hope they don't score. If we can keep them out we might just get lucky on a break-away. With what we have left I can't see much else. The "up and at em" of last weeks Cup game second half is as likely as F.G.R having lunch at McDonalds with Dale Vince ordering half-pound all in specials all round..It won't be easy.

We'd also have to pick two central midfielders who would be both energetic enough to win a the ball when possibly outnumbered, and clever enough to then do something with it.

We went with an open formation for the second half against Walsall and it went well. We also did so at Hull and it went spectacularly not well.

The most exciting move I could see happening is Ameobi central behind SJM. Parky is on record as saying SJM doesn’t work hard enough, but surely he has to start after a hat trick?

I’d go:
Alnwick
Olkowski
Taylor
Wheater
Beevers
Lowe
Vela
Little (no feck* chance)
No one
Ameobi
Magennis

I think Vela will be dropped as it sounds like he was Uber turd last weekend - Wilson back in perhaps? Then he might have the don wide right, noone left, Ameobi behind perhaps?

I don't have a good set of mammarys regarding Bristol games, and I've not kept abreast of their results this season, so I've no idea whether they are likely to go tits up to us if we manage to put a bounce in our step. I'll wait for Jugs to come along and post something before I decide what the score might be. I'll toddle off now before I milk the innuendo any further.

1 nil away win.

KA will release 16 statements about the 16 people who have done him wrong. Doidge will return and sign. O'Neil will sign. The 2 other winding up orders will go away.

Alnwick, Olkowski, Wheater, Beevers, Grounds, Lowe, Murphy, Noone, Buckley, Ameobi, Magennis.

So, either a 4-2-3-1 with Ameobi behind Magennis or a 4-4-2 with Ameobi partnering Magennis.

Which would mean half our central midfield is Murphy.

Not that I’m arguing with your prediction. And in truth with Sammy (rather than say Vela) at 10 there’s marginal difference between the two set-ups anyway.

Oh well. We can only go with what we have left and I dare say it won’t be the worst XI we end up fielding this season.
