Cheers I thought a 12 month rolling contract meant that at the end of each 12 month period it can be terminated by either party.
But what do I know.
No. It means at any point he is due 12 months notice...which in effect means 12 months salary to sack him. There may be some period defined within it (say after 4 years there is a break and notice can be served immediately) but as far as we know there isn't.

Not sure that's at all correct.

You are correct it's not correct.
A 12 month rolling contract means he is employed for 12 months and on the contract end date is contracted for a further twelve months on the same basis.

That is if there are break periods in the contract. In football that isn't always the case and often a rolling contract is in effect setting the severance package. We do not know the details - I know that when asked Iles has previously said that his understanding is that to "sack him" we'd need to pay him off for 12 months. That's "his understanding" rather than absolute fact - but its all we've got in terms of details.

What you are describing is a permanent contract with a twelve month notice period. That's not a twelve month contract - in football, or outside football.

I realise that. My point is that when asked Iles has previously responded by saying "whenever they would sack him they'd have to pay 12 months". I'm not saying that it should be called a 12 month rolling contract, but only that in football often when something is described as a rolling contract it often means that is the severance period. I seem to remember (but could be wrong) that Megson was on a 12 month rolling deal and that we had to pay him 12 months on gardening leave as a result.....

I think I've concluded from the exchange above, that we actually have "no clue" how much we might need to pay, to part ways with Parky? Would be good if that was the case, as that was my initial assumption.

Parkinson should pay the club compensation if they sack him for the past seasons drivel he's been responsible for on the pitch.

On the Bolton News website today, Peter Reid looks like he is throwing his hat into the ring. Could do worse.

I think you are a bit harsh on Reidy. I would be happy with Nolan. He has been quiet during all this palaver. Watching and waiting.

Kev Nolan may be a Scouser, but when here he was pure Bolton. He's the man for me.

Agreed. If, on the back of a new regime taking over Nolan was appointed by early July, there could be a real feel good factor around the place.

Some much needed optimism would be very welcome.

Does he have the requisite ability though? Being Bolton won’t help win games.

What a question, you will of course have the answer? Who do you think will be in the queue then, Pep Guardiola, Jose Maurhino, hey, might even tempt Zinedine Zidane? All of them have lost a game or two, and their reputations wouldn't count zilch at the Unibol food bank youth academy. Right now we're hardly Barcelona or Paris St Germain are we? I'll take Nolan happily.

I'd rather have a promotion from within - David Lee
Or if we have to appoint from outside - I'd have Phil Brown

Take cover!!!! Incoming from Bruce!!!

I'd have Nolan, obviously he's unproven but he'd be popular, is respected and has got some experience at the bottom end of the leagues now as a manager. He'd be able to pick his own players as well.
